Since we're all excited about an upcoming Tomcat and drooling over which livery we want out Tomcat featured in, I figured we can all get acquainted with the histories of our favorite F-14 squadrons and see each squadrons' liveries over the years by delving into Torsten Anft's amazing F-14 website. C...

Funny thing when I look at the pic of this weathered one I'm not sure they painted the line of demarcation between the two tactical greys in the correct waterline location. The dark on top and lighter shade on bottom seperation falls right in the middle of the fuselage. From almost every pic I've se...

Does anyone else notice that on the top picture (the one with VF-154 Black Knights markings) the vertical stabilizers look, well...too vertical? They don't seem to have the 2-3 degrees of outward cant as required. I agree with most everyone else. The bottom one looks better. Even if the top one is w...

My pick for BBI's masterpiece is their 1/32 F-4J Phantom. It may not be as big as the others...Okay it's most likely the same length as the 1/18 BF109, etc but seriously, in proportion to scale, the F-4 is better detailed than any 1/18 plane BBI or AT or 21st has produced. From a distance of let's s...

Though the BBI Corsair is my all time favorite 1/18 plane, as for 21st Century Toys, based on a combination of details, accuracy, and features I would say their "masterpiece" was the Avenger. It's not my favorite 21st 1/18 plane, mostly because I think the Avenger is one UGLY plane, but it is the be...

I agree with hworth18. I don't think BadCat's pricing or marketing/advertising has anything to do with the demise of 21st. In fact I think excellent online retailers have had more to do with helping keeped 21st propped up. BCA has all the great tools in hand for marketing/advertising to sell product...

Model Master Chrome? Oooh be careful with that paint. Ironically once you paint it that's as bright and shiny as it gets. You cannot polish that paint as you will actually dull it. The actual exhaust nozzle vanes are made of titanium. After looking at close up pics I would recommend Testors metalliz...

I hear you out Dragon. It is more realistic that the Black Knights and Grim Reapers tomcats are matte. Maybe CW was trying to paint their jets as if they were brand new. The A-6 Moonlighters would have been glossy when new, same for VA-35 Black Panthers A-6, but not the VA-115 Eagles A-6. The Black ...

I have to half agree with you Dragon53 on the CW JR Tomcat being glossy. They painted it glossy but they weathered in the panel lines. Contradictory. Matte with weathering would have looked more realistic if trying to depict that particular Tomcat some number of years into its service life. Glossy w...

RAD, Looking for other Jolly Rogers jets? Hobbymaster's VF-84 F-4J Phantom is uber nice. 1/72. Their livery represents roughly the last years VF-84 flew the Phantoms Century Wing's VF-84 F-14's are the best of the best. Five releases, five different modex numbered planes. There's AJ200, 201, 202, 20...

Where do you live and where was the package sent from? Was it sent ground or express? If it's ground the package has to get routed from a small hub to a main terminal for the sender's state (using LTL trucks..the shorter ones) to be then loaded onto an OTR carrier (big long `53 trailers) heading acr...

Fockewulfe, you're absolutely right! I never payed attention to the bottom of the wings in the couple photos I have. They do have yellow/black bands matching the top. Photoshop. The BBI checkerboard Corsair didn't come with red stripes. I believe that paint scheme they chose is a fictitous scheme anyway. Well, let me take that back..a little bit. Slight custom of The Huff
Always been my favorite F-86 scheme. Saw some pictures of this Sabre on the internet and wanted to make it look more realistic. I completely repainted the aux tanks and painted the gun plate titanium and used magnesium for the tail cone. Most of the rest of my collection is on this flickr webpage to...

I heard acetone and not nail polish remover. There's too much other chemicals that dilute its effectiveness. Learned that from someone on the Model Hangar Diecast Forum. Tried it on an inconspicuous spot on my F-4. It worked taking black off, but it also smears a little of the paint underneath. Trie...
