Re: Question about "Marine's Dream" corsair - background inf
Not only is Marines Dream a fictitious airshow scheme, so is the BBI Checkerboarded cowl Corsair. That plane was last flying around 2000-2001. Then they stuck it in a museum. No longer flying. The Block Island Corsair is the only BBI Corsair with a WWII historic representation. All of 21st Century's...

The nozzles on the GE B and D Tomcat are made of titanium. You can use Testors metallizer titanium but I see titanium everyday and that paint looks too dark. Testors metallizer burnt metal polished out looks pretty darn close to used and old titanium. Magnesium in that same line (polished) will give...

The tail flash is paint. White base coat, mask over the star, mask the outline for the bolt, then paint Model Master Bright Yellow, then mask over the bolt and star, paint black. Same thing for the AB tail code on the inside. The "USS America" is custom decal, same for VF-33 on the underside. CAn't ...

F-14A VF-33 Starfigfhters Last CAG 1992 De-Commission scheme
Got most of her done this weekend. Just needs some weathering, the wheel wells painted, the front landing gear detailed and the new Skyworks Toys replacement metal landing gears inserted and she's a ringer for the real thing. To make my Tomcat as close to the correct Block 95 configuration that VF-3...

Too bad you're not looking for the cat launch area cause you could download or use "Snagit" and capture the cat launch deck area from Century Wings' website and use Snagit to blow it up. Or use that free online vector graphic program, Inkscape, to size it up to 1/18. http://www.centurywings.com/mode...

Zack mentioned that he has seen the special lighted edition come with more problems than the standard versions. I would agree with that. My two were the lighted and were far far far far far worse than some of my coworkers' standard F-14's. Couple fellas' Cats had broken radars. But not like mine. Mi...

I can confirm BadCat is dropping the JSI jets line altogether. For the past three months Rob and I have been dealing with Merit regarding two special lighted edition spotcats I purchased from BCAT back in December. Both were severely broken when I received them. When I mean broken, I mean broken lan...

I don't think firefighterpilot was trying to imply that making bombs or any kind of armament was easy in the literal sense. I'm sure that for anyone with even a remote ability in making models would say that scratchbuilding is the most difficult part of making a model apart from a manufacturer's kit...

Yeah man, that little stripe on top is Medium Gray FS35327 from Testors Model Master line. The interesting thing about that particular Tomcat is that it had a nice clean looking paint scheme when the 1989 cruise started. by late in the cruise it had really bad blotchy paint spots all over it as the ...

No sadly you wouldn't have a VF-84 Jolly Rogers Bombcat. They were disbanded Oct 1 1995. VF-103 (then Sluggers) the next year took on the Jolly Rogers name, scheme, and traditions. What's interesting is that VF-103 was the first Bombcat squadron, but as Sluggers in 1992, of course flying the "B" mod...

A "Bombcat" is any F-14A, B, or D that was configured for the "strike" mission. Instead of carrying the typical load out of Phoenix, Sparrows, and Sidewinders, the Tomcat would be loaded down withGBU-31/32 Joint Direct Attack Munition (JDAM) guided glide bombs, Mk83 bombs, GBU-12 bombs, GBU-16 laser...

That's good to hear Merit is sending replacement parts. I actually purchased 2 special AWOH lighted F-14's from Bad Cat in early December one for me and one for my Dad. Absolutely horrible condition. I contacted Bad Cat about a week later. They said they were in discussion with JSI about replacement...

I never received validation on whether the picture of the plane is the real thing or a 1/48 Tamiya master. I'm assuming that this new plane is from the same 2nd series 21st Mustang mold. It was a nice mold but I really never liked warped wings and the thin main wheels. I don't like the paint scheme;...

This is awesome news on a new P-51. Not fond of the scheme since I like silver Mustangs, not OD, but to each his own. My only question is: Is that Mustang shown a 1/48 or 1/32 paint master or is that really 1/18? The landing gears look too perfect for 1/18 which makes me infer it's a smaller scale. ...
