Re: 1/18 Ho-229 Build is Done !!!!! Finished Pics 10-13

I just went back and checked the first post in the original Horten thread. Matt proposed this project back in January of this year. Given that he's been running a business the whole time and doing other 1/18 work along the way, the progress Matt's made on this project is amazing. If we end up gettin...

Re: Dragon 1/6 tank

I've resisted 1/6 successfully since getting back into modeling in a big way a few years ago. The three dozen 1/18 planes hanging from the ceiling in my man cave, the tanks and other vehicles and figures on most flat surfaces and the mad-scientist V-2 rocket factory already freaks out the rare human...

Re: 1/18 Ho-229 Build is Done !!!!! Finished Pics 10-13

Even despite the scary price, you could get quite a following with this 8) I'm sure you weren't meaning to be critical, but I think the price is exceedingly fair. Even if you set aside the value of Matt's time to him, the workmanship and subject matter, and the fact that there will be no unsold sto...

Re: 1/18 BBI F4U Corsair FS

Well, just to stretch this out a little longer . . . I see what happened and understand how folks on both sides of something like this can be upset. Heck, I almost bought this plane; I already have one just like it, but it's one of my favorites and, if I wasn't spending so damned much on other proje...

Re: 1/18 Ho-229 Prototype Progress 10-10

PH -- Take your time! Creating this masterpiece has been a long odyssey, and we've been lucky to go along for the ride! Speaking of the ride for us voyeurs, I don't know if you've got some secret techniques in the mold-making stages, but if you're willing to give us some insight into how you do that...

FIN FAB: With the peg-and-hole and 2-piece improvements now demonstrated, I've decided to see if I can incorporate the panel line techniques I've been developing on the early Val work into the now-delayed V-2 kit. This pic shows the current state of experimentation: http://gregburch.net/IMG-2011101...

I've got a small army of shaved-butt (and shaved-back ) figures dremeled to sit in vehicles and planes.

Re: 1:18 Boxes

I've been stashing boxes in the attic over my office. If my wife ever saw them . . . Somehow, she doesn't freak at the dozens of planes hanging from the ceiling in my man cave, but the boxes would look like . . . money . . . Since I'm basically only buying "OOB" "used" stuff now, it's not the proble...

[snip] ...last week I needed Tamiya to match a project I had started and looked it up on Ebay. Very available and had a nice conversation with an eEbay seller. I ended up buying the paint in Nanuet N.Y. at a hobby shop that seemed to have a very good supply. As much as I like to try new things in s...

Tamiya Spray Lacquer

Poor modeler that I am, I've searched for years to find something that can give me good painting results. I've never had luck with airbrushing, and have always returned to rattle cans. When I found Tamiya spray lacquers, it provided me with a MAJOR improvement in results I could achieve. If my own p...

Re: new planes i could see BBI making

What about the Me-163 Komet? There have been rumors banging around for a few years now. I know I'd buy a few. :) I believe we'll see a Komet before long, but not from BBI. As for the rest, the big question is "new molds in the new world." JSI set an example with the F-14. If they actually make mone...

A question -- which may have been answered in other discussions of this model: How scale accurate is it in size and over-all contours?

Mine arrived at the office today. I couldn't resist, and took a few minutes to open the box. Wonderful model, and very nice packaging. But at six birds, I can say I have enough 109s now!

Great pics -- thanks. As I scrolled down, I thought to myself that you were composing the shots just as I would. Before I got to the bottom, I thought, "I bet he poses it with the 21st S1 109" . . .

Hopefully mine will arrive today . . .

1/18 V2

It's been quite some time since I reported the status of my V2 project. A few months ago, I was on track to begin offering kits for sale in November -- just in time to soak up a little Christmas money. Three things have intervened to delay my launch (!) until, hopefully, right after the first of the...
