Krieglok, Does the Franklin Mint version refer to a certain time period for the 29 Palms paint scheme? I just spent 4 years there not to mention a few CAX's (Combined Arms Exercises) thru the 90's out there and never noticed an Abrams painted that way... I'm not saying it's not possible but I'm sure...

One last question, has anyone been able to verify if the new 3 tone desert camo on the Action series Abrams is legit? I never saw one like that in the Marines and I lived across the street from 1st Tank Battalion for 4 years... Maybe an Army paint scheme? Just curious since it don't look bad at all....

I recieved my overpriced, hard to find AAV purchased from ebay about an hour ago and thought I would share my impressions here now that I have one in my collection... as I said in a seperate thread I served in Amtracs for some 15 years and just seperated from active duty in sept due to back injuries...

Well said about FOV and 21st century differences... kinda like apples and oranges. Now that you mention it I took your advice on the M 60 and fixed the same problem on mine a few weeks ago. I saw a reference to these at the Motorpool site a while ago... while I'm not crazy about the scale AAV's models are hard to come by and were virtually unknown outside the Marine Corps until recently... the coverage of the Iraq War has given them a lot of exposure and kindled some interest with mode...

...FOV is full of suprises lately. I landed the IFOR Hummer, Winter M 16, Sherman repaint, and Matilda repaint at a local Target. I have yet to see anything new at all at TRU and I check quite often.... I broke down the other day and bought the AAVP7A1 on EBAY for 60 bones after shipping so rest ass...

...while waiting for the latest releases from FOV to appear on the shelves I have taken a fresh look at the last wave released and noticed some minor details... Thanks for the tips... I had seperated the hulls on a few vehicles to detail, etc, and the Matilda exhausts were a minor concern but came apart smoothly.

I know the Marines use the same type of markings and when applied to an AAV (troop carrier) it is in reference to the embarked infantry (about 1/2 a platoon per vehicle) and their position in relation to the Company when dismounted...
