F-4 repaints

Hi, just wanted to throw in my two cents. The Phantom is probably the only plane which I would be willing to buy repaints. So far, of the planes I like, I've bought only one of each model (for cost/personal resource reasons). Also, because aside from the paint job it is essentially the same plane in...

Best 109?

Are the new 109's from new molds? I.e. are these planes part of 21st's Legend Series? Also, I am probably going to buy one and only one of the new 109's: the Sahl, Rall, or Hackl. I am wondering which would be the 'best' selection. I generally collect one of each aircraft, so I want to make an good ...

Links to manufacturers

Hey digger - not a bad idea! What if somewhere on this board we could post links to 1:18 manufacturers? Besides the big two (21st C & BBI)maybe there are some out there we simply don't know about? For instance, I own a spectacular diecast Humvee made by a company called Exoto. Took a lot of seaching...

Secret 1:18 Armor!

Arggh! Secret 1:18 armor project ? I can tell right now this one is going to be a whole lot worse than who shot JR! Don't care what era it is for, I just truly hope it is a new product and not a repaint. My hope of hopes is that it is an M1A2 done right!

A-10 cost

Guys - I know the A-10 is kinda the Holy Grail of the modern aircraft series, but do we have any idea as to the cost of this beast? I'm sure a lot of us would buy it so as to amortize the tooling cost decently, but what is that tooling/production cost? If it requires a significantly larger set of IM...

You know you're addicted to XD when you can't think straight due to a pending announcement. Today will be kinda like the day after Revenge of the Sith was released - poor workplace productivity, drop in domestic GDP, etc.

Momaw

Momaw Nadon aka Harley already has a solid reputation as a great trader. My experience with him is also A+++. He sure knows how to pack aircraft for shipment! I could learn a thing or two from him.

Many thanks!!

What to do...

Aferg - have you heard back from Mike yet on this hornet? Got mine today and it was the Golden Dragon. Which I may end up keeping as it is really a great model. BUT, my finances allow me to buy about one of every aircraft, so I kinda wait and see when a new one is released. I troll about a bit looki...

Gaping holes

Saw these at TRU today. At first glance they look excellent. And it appears the articulation is better (at least the elbows, anyway). I noticed one of the figs had the reserve 'chute off and packed separately. In its stead, of course, there is a gaping hole where the peg at the back of the chute att...

Modern Figures

I have never been convinced that the modern figs offered by BBI are accurate to frontline troops. I know army battledress has changed since my brush with the military in the late 80's, but I just do not see good correlation between what I see our troops wearing as opposed to what is being sculpted a...

Bare Metal Vs Painted Finish

I know this may be common knowledge to most of you, but why do many planes have the bare metal finish? Camouflage is an obvious reason to have an aircraft painted. Keeping out of sight of an enemy has obvious advantages, I would reckon. So why are many aircraft bare metal? Seems like it makes them s...

Yeah! I finally took the plunge - got my first WWII aircraft. I collect the modern stuff, but I'm tired of waiting around for a decent M1 or even regular GI's. Thought I'd never do it (imagining the expense of 20+ planes at $40-$80 a pop!) but today I bought a Fw 190D. Feel like a kid again buzzing ...

Anybody find these yet in Peoria IL?
