History Channel Series?

I was just looking at the PDF earlier this week and I didn't see much armor for the History Channel (Legends) series in 1/50. Hopefully the second half of 2006 will offer a King Tiger 8) .

smh_1021 thanks for the writeup and links. These are very nice looking models and I like the 1/48 - 1/50 scale. I also like that they have some metal content and weathering :) .

Drilling Tip

I should have mentioned this above - if you are going to drill out the barrel tip, it helps to start with a smaller drill size first, then use the 1.80mm drill bit. This helps to create a pilot hole for the 1.80mm and reduces the chance of the drill bit "dancing" on the barrel tip. I have started us...

I do not have any of the Premier Collection Tigers. I will try to get some more pics this week showing the methods I used to tie the tracks and what worked well. Got to get the tractor started and mow today since it is finally overcast. Mowing in the sun when it is 90º+ out ain't fun.

Corgi Tiger

Tuttle, I have the D-Day Tiger (60503) and the Kurland Tiger (60507) which looks better than the prototype picture Corgi uses. I did not get the Whittman Tiger (60501) as the model does not look as good as the prototype Corgi depicts. There is a lack of weathering and odd placement of accessories. T...

Height of Corgi T-34

Corgi's T-34/76D (edit) 1/50 scale model measured with calipers to the top of the turret is 1 7/8" or approximately 7' 10". Measured to the top of the periscope it is 2 1/16" or 8' 7". Looks like Corgi scaled this model properly but dang does it look small compared to a Panther. Of course the Panthe...

WarTanks on Ebay

Saw this WarTanks King Tiger on Ebay and seems to be a good price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6966514185&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT&rd=1 Contacted the seller and the shipping was reasonable. While I wasn't thrilled to hear that lightning2000 will not be filling preorders, I do give him credit for informing us of his decision and presenting some reasonable arguments as to why they are going to list these on ebay. I did not preorder this model, so potentially I stand to gain if I want to ...

Some good insight by everyone. I posted this on a World War II forum and the general consensus was the same. Allied tankers would not intentionally run over their infantry to gain position, but that infantry sheltering behind them were run over as the tank reversed to avoid being destroyed.

My son is 2 1/2 and always wants to "look at tanks". We sit on the floor and open one box after another until all the boxes are open. I wouldn't recommend this if you want to keep your models in mint condition but I enjoy it as much as he does.

Hehe, found out why I haven't heard of them before. They just opened the store in Traverse City a week and a half ago. They did have the Corgi armor and planes and the store manager said she has approximately 500 boxes to open yet. Yes, 500 - I didn't believe it either until she pointed out the back...

Question: Armor in the Normandy Bocage

I have been told that Allied tanks in the Normandy bocage had to over run infantry (read run over infantry) to head off German armor. I am very skeptical of this actually happening on purpose as I have never read one account nor heard it mentioned in any documentary. Has anyone ever heard of this ha...

Nice to see some of the 2005 2nd half releases. I was beginning to wonder if they were only going to release diorama's. I like the initial looks of the new tiger but we will have to see the production pics. http://www.diecastdirect.com/asp_modules/add_item.asp?ProductCode=C51603 http://www.diecastdi...

I realize this thread was posted in February but I am catching up. Been away from the boards for 4 months due to family medical reasons. I was wondering the same thing Sgt. Stryker. I believe the Firefly was the most powerfully armed British tank of WWII. What is interesting is that the Firefly was ...

Wieslaw, I believe you may be the only member from Poland. Poland was developing the 10TP in 1937 with the intention to equip each Polish motorized cavalry brigade with a battlion of these tanks. What is interesting is that this tank could run on both tracks and road wheels with a top speed of 47mph...

Thanks Lightning2000 and Jagdplastic. That makes sense that sand kicked up would limit the drivers visibility especially considering the front design of the Churchill.
