Re: Area-21 news

Great to see some life back into this board. I think there is a sizable group of 1:18 collectors who bounce between this board and other 1:18 collectibles (GI JOE etc.). What was the last new mold created for 1:18 - was it the Harrier? Did that not sell well enough to warrant simply a slower series ...

P-51 Part needed

Hi all,

I'm looking for a spare silver P-51 1:18 21st Century Toys bomb/gas tank holder or wing attachment. It's the little elongated part that snaps into the wing that the bombs connect to. Anyone know where to get a spare of one of those?

Thanks!

Re: BBI F-16

Thanks. I tried a little soap and water and still was tacky. So, I tried a little Novus plastic cleaner/polish and a microfiber cloth. It improved the condition, but not 100%. It's definitely only on the "softer" rubbery kind of plastic found on the nose cone and exhaust. I am afraid to try anything...

BBI F-16

Hi everyone. Anyone here experience a sticky, almost tacky to the touch paint issue on the nose cone and exhaust of the BBI F-16 in 1:18? Mine has been on display, not in the sun, and noticed just those sections are sticky. Any safe remedies for fixing it? Thought i'd ask the knowledgeable here. Tha...

And you thought the molds were broken! Spitfires return!

According to this source, there's still some Spitfires still in their original packaging, ready for shipment.

Re: PTE Find

Not sure 100% on the price, but everything big was about $20 or less. Just grabbed my attention as outside of Toys R Us and the True Heroes line, you don't see too much of this scaled stuff anywhere.

PTE Find

I've never bought any of their stuff, but I came across this batch of PTE stuff at a makeshift toy store in Chula Vista, CA in the Plaza Bonita Mall. Lots of variety. I assume you've probably seen it all.

True Heroes Apache

Was at Toys R Us today, saw the True Heroes Apache Helicopter. It is about as long as the Blackhawk they did. Anyone else see it yet?

B-17

The B-17 shown is made from fiberglass. It would be a GREAT project plane. What we need is someone to build scale engines and propellers for this. I think this would be a a lot of fun to customize.

B-17

I believe Aferguson has mentioned this one before, but now there are some updated pictures and Youtube. I've never considered converting a RC plane into a display model, but this looks pretty darn good. I'm not sure what it would entail to get realistic engines put in etc, but with some paint and de...

Nice work

Looks great Dean!

I know there has been some back and forth about which Model Master color is the dead on color.

Is it the Gull Grey flat or the Light Ghost Gray?

Which is the best match? Thanks!

Best method

Dean, based on your paint expertise - do you recommend using the acrylic or the enamel bottles for a "first timer?" Which would provide the best result and appear the most seamless - sans an airbrush?

Best method

So far, for us that don't have air brushes or the pro modeller setup, I think deankleines method of the Model Master Flat Gull Grey and the "makeup" sponge applicators seems to be the "easiest." His test shots look great in sunlight and in doors. I am anxious to see his "final product." Also, no bru...

1:18 FOV

Speaking of FOV 1:18 tanks, I got the Abrams. Nice tank, however, the tracks don't "roll" very easily. Anyone else notice this? You can make them roll if you push down on the body real hard. Am I missing something?

Did you checkout the slideshow of the real F-15 with wheels down. It's huge. No F-14 displayed though.

Actually JSI will be the maker and Merit International will be the middle man. Makes me wonder how much fire this will light, if any, under bbi since Merit handles some of their stuff too. Of course bbi has Cal Teck (?) now I believe. Here's the other BBI distributor's site: http://www.caltekonline...

Tomcat, Huey? Cobra?

This is great news. I wonder what the price range will be on the Tomcat Pre-order. I also like the look of the Corsair. Nice to see another P-38 on the market as well. Good to see the 21st molds are still in existence. What about the helicopters. Could we see another Huey or Super Cobra in the near ...

Any suggestions?

I lost the helmet to the BBI F/A-18 pilot which is inclusive of the oxygen mask etc. As these aren't readily available (as say the Corsair pilot and P-38 pilots from 21st), anyone have a suggestion for replacement? I'd buy one if I could find one. However, is there a reasonable alternative, say in t...
