I can't comment on the newest ME-109s (since they don't exist in Alabama), but my order of priority would be: 1. Corsair 2. P-38 3. Stuka 4. Spitfire 5. Best of the rest (P-47) By the way, finally found a BBI P-51 Mustang in Alabama and it's everything it was hyped to be. Definitely the best yet, at...

FOV vs. 21st Century

I wouldn't discount either line, I own them both. But for overall quality I like FOV. Most of FOV's stuff looks like a nice, dressed out model done by someone who knew what they were doing. Much of 21st's stuff looks like a model completed by someone still learning how to finish and paint models. If...

FOV Errors

Ooops, of course that would be UH-60 Blackhawk. Not proofreading is a danger at all times, especially when in a hurry. Yes, regardless of the flaws these are by far the best affordable military machines ever produced IMHO. I'll take my Blackhawk, white interior and all, for $30 and run like the wind...

FOV Inaccuracies

On a slightly different vein, the FOV AH-64 Blackhawk is a thing of beauty but (as usual for FOV) they had to make a silly error. They didn't paint the white interior which looks completely bogus. I painted everything but the front cockpit through the rear door opening, and then tried to disassemble...

Ratings

I can't believe I left out my: XD Corsair - 9.5 - Folding wings are delicate but great for display, a truly beautiful plane XD - Bradley - 7 - Weak on exterior paint detail, but better than BBI's armor (so far) XD- Patton - 7.5 - The tank is well done but could have been better A "10" has to be near...

Quality Ratings For Items

IMHO the quality of many of the 1/18 scale items differs greatly. For example, I think the XD Tiger and Hanomag were excellent, but the Sherman only decent. And the P-38 was superb but the P-40 a big disappointment. I know opinions will vary (sometimes within paint-schemes), but let's give it a try ...

Panzer IV Mods

I'd go ahead and do it. I won't be surprised (though very disappointed) if either 21st drops all the XD line except the planes or goes belly up before 2006.

Collecting

I collect 21st Century 1:18 scale armor and planes, and 1/32 scale 21st and FOV armor. I have a decent 1/43 scale Solido collection that became dormant when nicer stuff came on the market (anyone interested in Solido?)

Solidos

why is it so expensive? Solidos other diecast cars are nowhere near that expensive. Unless you catch a good deal on one, Solido can be fairly expensive. I started collecting their 1/43 scale military vehicles a few years back (before 21st and FOV got crankiing) a the normal price for much of it was...

What Will Sell

Yes a Zero would sell very well marketed under "Pearl Harbor Collection" or the like, and they could market the Langley P-40 in the same heading. The general public will buy things they're familiar with, that strike a note with them. And that are affordable and well-represented. An F-104 strikes a c...

I agree with the comment about the Luft 46 series being an almost certain bomb in regards to sales. Makes me think they really don't do their homework when it comes to sales research (news flash?). I think they'll get somewhat the same result with the F-104 too. Bully for the Avenger news though, an...

WalMart is out to put the other guys out of business, this is true. But KB and TRU ultimately failed because they both started offering nothing but cheesy crap (not to mention very few discounts). Imagine that, people won't buy crap! What is the toy industry coming to?

Perhaps a P-51 without the six .50 cal. machine guns would be even better. A crop-dusting model perhaps, or would the thought of chemicals be just too much?
