Finally saw the 113 in person. There were two this morning in a Salt Lake area Walmart. Funny thing though, I had gone to 2 Walmarts north of the one I found them in and didnt see anything, I have since gone to 3 more Walmarts south of there and not seen any more. Either they are selling well or shi...

Finally saw the FA-18 Hornet ay my local (Orem Utah) TRU today, but 80 bucks is a little too much to justify with the wife.

Still no M113 at the local WM.

What an ass. I'll have to put him on my do no business with list. I wrote him a second email, this time I said: "I have seen pictures of the 1:18 scale M113 APC at http://69.93.119.2/photo/1/showphoto.php?photo=19406&sort=1&cat=1823&page=1 It is not "exactly the same." The scale, obviously, is diffe...

75th, You will need to host you photos somewhere else online. I use www.photobucket.com because it's easy and free. You will just need to set up a user ID there. Once you upload your images to photobucket there will be a web address for each photo. You then use the Img button to post it in a thread ...

As an example, here are a couple other SW heads I have been working on. I included the uncut original heads in the shot, on the left, for comparison. (They are sitting in sculpy so I could get straight shots.) The asian is the head of the SW Bespin Guard figure and the black guy is Sam Jackson, as M...

A modern SF, Afgan conflict style, custom.

I havn't seen too many people posting thier custom figures. I would love to see more of that, so here is one I made today. The body is, obviously, a BBI army figure. The head is from the star wars figure, General Crix Madine. I had to trim, not just the neck peg, but the width of the neck down to th...

Anyone who is planning to retro the m113 back to vietnam era, I could use a few extra of the combat identification panels. I'll be using them on desert vehicles, so desert is preferable, but they would be easy to paint I guess. I don't have alot to trade, I have been casting the BBI webgear pouches,...

Combat Identification Panels: The primary means of ground-to-ground identification for vehicles, CIPs are 24-inch x 30-inch panels painted with chemical agent resistant coating and with low emissive, high reflectivity tape. Attached to combat vehicles, CIPs appear as cold spots when seen through the...

I also found these photos among my files. I remember when I took these shots wishing these vehicles would be made at 1:18 scale. Im not even sure who these guys are. And for the record these photos were taken in Kuwait, near the Iraq/Kuwait border, but within a safe area. http://img.photobucket.com/...

As time went by though we developed ideas that were a little more complex. We built gun boxes for our humvees. I am not one of the welders and didnt help make them but I did ride around in one quite often. Being made of only steel, no real armor, they did not offer much protection but did provide co...

I deployed to Iraq last year with my National Guard Combat Engineer unit. We have no armored vehicles. We deployed with canvas top humvees. Toward the end of our deployment we were issued balistic doors and balistic glass for our windshields. In the mean time though we were only limited by our imagi...

Veterans

I'm just wondering how many veterans are here? What service were you with? What specialty? Where have you served?
Do you think your military service affected your collecting military figures or perhaps did collecting military figures affect your joining the military?
