Ok cool. So a few options for a possible conversion.
Still trying to figure out inside my own head, if it's too toy like. The auction still has a day to go....

Does this resemble an actual scout vehicle?
This has come up on a local auction site. It's cheap enough, but does anyone recogize it as resembling any real life scout vehicle?

Butcher bird for me!
Speaking of the Mustang conversion. I have a conversion kit made by "that guy, whose name we dare speak of", I haven't built it yet so if you want photos of it let me know.

Re: WTB Chap Mei Wespe
Hey Jon. I have one somewhere.
I'm just about to shift house so wont be able to get it out until next weekend.
I've also taken it apart, but haven't done any hacking yet.
Make an offer if you like (I'll also have to factor in shipping from New Zealand

Re: Enough to make you weep.
I hear ya Paul. I've only seen two specialist hobby stores here in NZ that had at the most 4 XD toys (and they would be random items, a stuka and a humvee for example). I've actually had more than one dream, where i've walked into a toy store and they had 1:18th toys by the shelf load. Then I wake u...

Re: 1/18 British 25 pounder
Ok, some soul searching going on in the background where I asked myself would I buy this for $166+. The answer is "no". I've been doing some rough estimations around a hybrid kit. This would involve two materials: Resin casting those parts which lend themselves to this process ie parts that can be e...

Anyone up for scale replacement Undercarriages?
Something I've been pondering for some time. The XD Spitfire, 109, 190, Avenger (to name a few) all have the undercarriage legs and gear doors molded in one piece. Anyone keen for some more accurate legs that are separate. These would completely replace the stock landing gear. Not to sure how easy t...

Re: 1:18 Stuart
Original M3 Stuart like the old Tamiya kit. I'm not at all proficient with the small details, but could it be possible to have say a base chassis/running gear and then different turrets/rear deck etc to make the different models. So all kits have basic/common parts, with separate pieces making up th...

Re: 1/18 British 25 pounder
Just an update guys. I've been busy with work recently, but i have been doing little bits and pieces.
I've shelled the larger parts. Just have a lot of little detail bits to model up.
I'll hopefully have some updated images and price within a week.

Hey Matthew. I've been thinking about it and I could probably make do with the two sides I have. I can just modify one cage so it faces the other way.

Hey jnewboy, was your captured Corsair an XD one? Did you break it down much, or did you repaint it while it was pretty much together?

Re: Corsair breakdown suggestions
Jollyroger, it might be better just to mask the prop/cowl opening than trying to break it down. You can pull the wings out (step one of the wing folding sequence) which should give you some gap to paint between (mask the folding mechanism). The small forward facing gear doors can be easily removed s...
