Best of Show!
Sorry if this has been posted before:
I thought you might like to see the new 1:18 Spitfire by Corgi. I saw this aircraft in New York and was amazed. I think it is the finest 1:18 aircraft, available to the general public, on the market today. If I remember correctly they are only making 250 units and the price range is around $1,500. I know the price sounds a little steep, but look at the amount of detail this aircraft contains, and one cannot contest the limited numbers. It is everything many of you have been asking for lately.
Everything works on this aircraft just like the 21st, BBI and Admiral Toys' releases, with some added features.
Hope you enjoy the photos.
Regards,
Jason
ARE YOU READY FOR THE BEST PART???!!!!!!

Wow finally engine detail!!!!
But why the damn "exclusive" only 250 made?!
I would gladly buy it for $90-$110, but not $1500!
(BTW Jason, is this an answer to my post in another thread? )

Very interesting! Glad to see that Corgi has entered the world of 1:18. I *cough* agree with some of you on the high price. Especially considering the FoV 1:32 Spit was only about $25 and was also diecast (assuming this is?) and had engine detail.
I'm sure the level and quality of the detail is more on this so perhaps there is an "Action" grade unit coming at some point..

Just like Walmart with their Motorworks brand?tmanthegreat wrote:Corgi has actually been in the 1:18 world for a while, but they sold 21c stuff.
Now they're in it for real.. Leaning toward HPH style I'm afraid, but at least now it's a home brew and a solid start!

spit
OK, $1500 and the only REAL thing outside the exclusivity is the engine access? Yes the engine is nice but come on! No gun bays? No Pilot? Does the undercarriage even work? I think I would rather a formation of Admiral F4s and a formation of 21C Spits and 2 cases of beer for my money...but to each his own..

jason, you are very cool and your interest in our hobby really show here ! that's incredible that a person so busy in this area is still amazed by some "competitors" offer !
We ALL must support your brand if only for this good spirit !
and i must agree ! this spit is nothing short of amazing but for this price here is the link that came so many time : www.hph.cz the model are amazing too !
I think the corgi spit is full metal for this price ?

Wow, very nice. Good to see some engine details! You think that Admiral or 21st will start considering engine detail?

1:18 car collecter for years, turned very casual collecter of XD airplanes and a few groundpounders.

It's nice, but not $1500 nice IMHO. I'd pay no more than $500.00 for that, mostly because the detail is ok, but I've noticed Corgi lacking detail in the past few years, and the only reason to purchase something like this is purely because it's "Limited" and not because the detail is worth it, again...in my opinion.

I fly back to Texas in a couple of hours. But before I do, I wanted to stop in and see what is going on.
I am afraid the aircraft is plastic, not metal. But to answer some of your questions: Yes, the undercarriage works, the riveting on this aircraft is amazing. Very to scale and not overdone, all flight controls move and there is even access panels to rafts and other aspects of the aircraft.
I must admit the price is hard to swallow. I think they are making a pretty good profit on this project. But at least the hobby is moving in this direction.
Plasmas started off in the tens of thousands, but look at them now. Maybe the manufactures of 1:18 will try and make affordable versions aircraft with this amount of detail. I know we are trying to find ways to make it cost effective.
Regards,
Jason

Very cool indeed--but that is some serious sticker shock. I am with Digger on this one. A finger four of F4s and another of Spits plus a good dinner at the Benni Hana

Yep, to each his own.....but $1,500 for that, come on. I have a hard time swallowing $40 to $50 on some of these.... I'm afraid if the cost on each bird keeps going up...that will do it for me. There is a lot of product out there, and $1,500 buys more than a years worth of collecting for some of us.
