2 New 32x planes by Christmas

Post by luftpanzer » Thu Oct 20, 2005 2:40 pm

Just read on area 21 that there is going to be 2 new planes in time for the holidays. Never made in 1/18th and not German, but from WW2. Hmmmm
maybe a Zero and somthing from Russia ? What are your thoughts?

Cool.. Finally a confirmation to what I suspected...

I can see doing a zero, but not anything Russian, maybe something else?? There were "other" countries in WWII.. Italy, Finland, France, Britain, among others..
It wouldn't surprise me if it were a Hurricane (could be a rusky version)..

Zero seems a good call - but its been made in 1:18th (just not by 21c). An F6F Hellcat or a Hurricane would be cool.

To steal a line from Mike (I believe), I say if you like Italian you will be pleased with both. That is, I guess Meatballs & Macchi. Enjoy.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, my bet is that one of these is going to be a B-17 "Flying Fortress" in 32x.!!

I knew they had more 32x waiting in the wings "pun intended" I was just taken off guard to learn that they would have more before the end of the year! Roy has kept these pretty close to the vest this time around. and I know he has been working pretty hard over there. I have a few clues and other side talk that I think points to a Zero as one. It is difficult to say for sure but that is what I would put money on if I was a betting man!

The real head scratcher for me is the second mystery plane. I just know for certain that it is not American or German! Could be anything really. 21st likes to come out with an exotic once and a while! I mean look at the F-104! That was a shock in 1:18 scale. We are all over this news here at AREA-21! I tried to call 3 different people at 21st today hoping to get official word on the models. But they were all out for the iHobby show.

I have been promised more intel by monday.... including Pics!!!!!! So we shouldn't have to sweat it out too long.

Hey TKO...
Do you know if different paint schemes will be available at the same time, or will we have to wait on those??? If one were going to be a Zero, I'd like a white one, but I'd Love to have a Green one..

All I know at this time is that there are 3 schemes planned so far for each plane. I hope they all come out at once but you never know.

I bet the XD guys would not be happy if we got a 32x Zero before they did.. I personally think it would be funny.. :D
Maybe we'll get more converts once they see what we're getting..

WOW ! .....This just really summed it up for me. OK, Zero's a hint, British "Spitfire"...."Hurricane" or "Mosquito" then.

You will get one first and you may have more guys jumping in but they might not all be converts....32x is small enough to supplement 1:18, not just substitute :P
And how come nobody's with me? I bet there would be even more new fans if I were right. 8)

Hey Digger,
I have 9 XD planes and I have about 20 32x.. To me they are much easier to handle, as they are scaled down versions of the larger XD planes, including the pilot, and you can have so many more actually sitting on a shelf rather than hanging from the ceiling..
Plus the fact that there will be 2 BRAND NEW planes coming that aren't yet available in XD is even more incentive and you can't beat the cost either, $15. -vs- $40.....
here is a pic of some 32x planes on a display case I have at the end of the hallway.. :D

That's a nice little airspace you got there! :)
The detail keeps getting better on those things - and the Xtreme Wings are a steal imo. They should do a Chinook or something that could just never happen in 1:18. That I would buy without question.

A Mosquito might be in the works since Roy Likes this plane. But I must say that it is a pretty large bird-if that still matters to 21st. I have the Corgi Mossie and it is quite a bit bigger than a single engine plane in 1/32. Still would be a nice choice though.

I would think that the only limitation would be an XD box size, so if a 32x Mossie would fit that box, I would say it could be done...

Ihobby update 21st Century Booth

Post by digger » Sat Oct 22, 2005 8:45 am

I got an update from a west coast connection that was there to display RR stuff who I had asked to recon the 21st booth. He said he "thinks" the new 1/32 planes were there, but not sure. He is not into small scale military so he is not the most reliable source. He also said there was some other stuff he has never seen, though again, he is not very learned on the subject so I am still a little suspect.
So, if anybody is going today you have a serious recon mission ahead of you - bring a camera! :P

Woah- iHobby Expo has really turned out to be a nice little jem of new information! First news came in that there were painted Avengers in 1:18 scale Now I have confimation that 1 of the 2 new 32x planes was on display today at the iHobby Expo! So the burning question... what was shown? How about adding a Japanese ZERO to the collection!
Britt took some photos for AREA-21, and 21st Century Toys is releasing them to me tomorrow afternoon! be sure to check the AREA-21 site tomorrow to see the first pictures of the all new 32x xtreme wings Japanese Zero!
