Hobby Master 1/48 F4F Wildcat
Re: Hobby Master 1/48 F4F Wildcat
Looking forward to the mold, but I really have to hold out for Thach's Midway scheme. Hope that one comes next...

Really glad to see Hobby Master will be making a 1/48 F4F! Every once and a while I will ponder getting the old Carousel 1 version, but never have gone for it... The Hobby Master plane should be superior.

Re: Hobby Master 1/48 F4F Wildcat
Except for the Pre-War or occasional Joe Foss version I have never seen any Carousel 1 Wildcats go below $100, especially the Butch O' Hare so this is welcome. I really would like his or other Coral Sea F4F going in. Though if the right Midway Wildcat like Thatch's comes along I'd get that too.
This is appealing with the Zero coming also.
Sure wish HM would get to some 1:48 P-40's.

I was fortunate to get a Butch O'Hare and Joe Foss Wildcat when Carousel went under for 1/2 off. Years ago, I got a bunch of Carousels at a great price on a Buy It Now on ebay really late one night.
I wasn't interested in the HM Wildcat until I read the Marion Carl history behind it an, so I'll probably get this one, too.

Nice! By the time I started collecting 1:48 Carousel they were too expensive. Never been able to get any Wildcats. Though I did manage to get the Boyington Flying Tiger, that's all I have so far. I've never been able score the George Welch P-40B. Also would like a P-36 Hawk.dragon53 wrote:I was fortunate to get a Butch O'Hare and Joe Foss Wildcat when Carousel went under for 1/2 off. Got to get at least a couple Wildcats barring any major flubs from HM. I would like to see a production model though HM rarely messes up too much.

DAUNTLESS:
I got the Welch P-40 on sale, too. My regret is that I didn't get more of the Carousels when they were 50% off because they would be worth a lot now.

A couple months ago, I picked up the S1 version of the new Hobby Master F4F Wildcat (White 2 of VMF-223, USMC, Guadalcanal, September 1942) at my local Hobbytown USA store. It’s quite a nice model, mostly diecast and heavy. The landing gear are plug in place and the canopy fully slides open to reveal the detailed cockpit. It is a great companion to Hobby Master’s excellent A6M2 Zero model
