I have already done the Firefly.

Do you guys like the Calliope over the Mine roller ?

I have long fretted doing the Easy 8 but now I have a great book that has the plans for the track links and road wheels. There is 4 different sized road wheels

Anyway the Jumbo and Easy take would be correct on the BBI 105 hull. The FOV hull is a early model and not only would I have to make the front of the hull correct I would have to make the rear correct as well.

So essentially I would have to make 2 kits and you guys will have to slice and dice your FOV up to accommodate.

The thing is the BBI Sherman are getting hard to come by and the prices are going up . The FOV you can still get all day long at a farley reasonable price.

The price of the 2 FOV M4A3 ( late ) kits will be about $35 - $45 for the both .
The BBI copy will be about $90 .
Unless you guys will just go with the front mod kit and leave the early rear deck alone and call it a day.

So what I am saying is I want to do the Jumbo and easy 8 Shermans but you guys will need to think what you want to do as far as the customization on the hulls.

Feedback needed on this .

The Jumbo kit will have these parts to convert the FOV into a Jumbo

Jumbo turret and gun-------------------------------------------$65
reconfiguration of glacias ( late M4A3 w/ extra armor )-------$25
correct rear deck ( late M4A3 )-----------------------------------$15
modified travel lock------------------------------------------------$0
thicker side armor-------------------------------------------------$20
duck bills for tracks------------------------------------------------$10
Total---------------------------------------------------------------$135 ?

Easy 8 using FOV as a base
T-23 turret----------------------------------------------------------$65
new tracks ----------------------------------------------------------$45 - $65
all new running gear------------------------------------------------$45-$65
reconfiguration of glacias to late model M4A3---------------------$20
reconfiguration of rear deck to late model M4A3-------------------$15
Total-------------------------------------------------------------------$ 190- $230
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

I can second that the BBI Sherman is very hard to find. I have seen 2 in 6 months of actively looking on ebay and I bought 1 of them and it was right at 100.

I recall seeing a picture of a 1/18 scale Sherman T34 Calliope next to a M48 Patton with skirts a very long time ago. I believe they were all JSI prototypes because I recall the F15 and a Huey in the photo. I will try and locate it.

I like this calliope version. For me it is the easiest upgrade kit with no or less modification need to my M4. It also look cool to me.

I located this old photo of the Calliope from the Toy Fair and threw in a picture of a 1/35 scale Calliope. It looks like it was mounted on a BBI tank in the Toy Fair photo.

The rocket launcher can be done . But the skill level may have to be a little high to do the assembly.

I an cut all of the tubes the same length but the modeler has to get them in the brackets all the same .

I guess topping them on a flat surface could take care of this .

Do you guys see the small grove on each of the tubes ? This can be achieved one all of the tubes have been cemented in place then go back with a razor saw and ever so slightly cut the groove.

Or just omit it .

The rest of the kit should be fairly easy.

The sand bag and frames , I can do .

Any more interest in the sandbag armor ?

Looks like no love for the big mine rollers .

I remember a while back someone offered the sand bags with frame along with the hedge cutter. I would be in for one if it happens. As far as the calliope goes I think what ever is easiest for you, If it makes it a reality.
