Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
Just an alphabetic list of things that I would be interested in, aren't too big to be impractical, and are significant enough to interest at least a few more people - the Natter would probably be the easiest subject to execute:
Arado Ar 234 Blitz
Bachem Ba 349 Natter
Bell P-39 Airacobra & P-63 Kingcobra
Cessna A-37 Dragonfly
De Havilland DH.98 Mosquito & DH.103 Hornet
Dornier Do 335 Ameisenbaer
Focke-Wulf Ta 152
General Atomics MQ-1 Predator & MQ-9 Reaper
Grumman F7F Tigercat
Hawker Sea Fury
Heinkel He 162 Volksjaeger
Ilyushin Il-2 & Il-10 Shturmovik
Kamov Ka-50 & Ka-52 Hokum
Lavochkin LaGG-3, La-5, La-7, La-9 & La-11
Messerschmitt Bf 109G-10 or K-4, Bf 110 & Me 410
Mil Mi-28 Havoc
Mikoyan MiG-3, MiG-17 Fresco, MiG-21 Fishbed (any later MiGs are probably too big to be practicable)
North American F-82 Twin Mustang & X-15
Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter / Tiger II & X-47B
Rockwell OV-10 Bronco
Sukhoi Su-25 (other major Sukhoi designs are probably too big to be practicable)
Supermarine Spitfire - Griffon-engined versions & Seafire FR 47
Westland Wyvern
Yakovlev Yak-3, Yak-7, Yak-9 & Yak-38 Forger
Arado Ar 234 Blitz
Bachem Ba 349 Natter
Bell P-39 Airacobra & P-63 Kingcobra
Cessna A-37 Dragonfly

I'm a fan of the OV-10 Bronco idea.

P 51 B or C would be cool. I also do like the idea of an A-4 jet.

Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
Hay Spike Dude how bout the one we talked about the other day, the Push Pull Dornier- DO 335 Pfeil nicknamed the "Anteater", 4 rear stabilizers forming a cross and had explosive bolts on rear engine to eject the prop section if need be- you don't get any cooler than that for something different just like yer Horten, and it could outrun-outgun the Stangs escorting the Bombers as well.....and looks relatively simple with yer skills to make...justa thot my friend, I would buy one without even thinkin about it... TJJ
ya gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie
Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?

For me, I like the odd, and simple stuff, I'd have to go with the Saab J-21

A helicopter does not want to fly, it just vibrates so much that the ground rejects it
Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
From the list given my vote goes to the P-39 Airacobra.
My personal list after the P-39 would be as follows.
Tempest MKV
KI-84
KI-61
Yak 3
Ki-44
P-63 Kingcobra
The Kingcobra was an entirely different plane than the P-39. It was bigger and more powerful, but I prefer the P-39 because of its heavy use in WWII.

Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
A4 makes the most sense: 1.small 2. a lot of variations 3. goes well with Harrier that is coming {Falkins some day} 4. a lot of countries used them 5. make a top gun special version 6. a lot of different weapons were used on them (sell various weapon packs) 7. Vietnam version 8. double seat trainer version 9. easy to build 10. sell for cheap price
Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
Pretty much the same can be said for the F-5A or F-5E...

Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
I think your both right......
Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
I don't know how old this is, but I was looking for someone building a P-39 Airacobra, and did a search, and ran across this request list. I thought we did this before in another post, but I want to dump my favorites here in order.
1. P-39 Airacobra
2. Yak-9
3. Ilyushin Il-2
4. ME-163
5. Mosquito
Hopefully one day some of these will be made...they would be such great additions, since we have 4 out of the 5 BIG players already represented in 1:18 scale, yet nothing from the Russian front. It's not that I am a huge Russian fan, but we have the high scoring German ace flyers represented, who scored their massively high numbers against an unrepresented enemy in 1:18 scale.
Below are the reasons why I think these are such solid choices.
P-39 Airacobra
Why?
1. This plane had the highest kills of any American made plane in WWII.
2. This plane served in the Pacific & North Africa (under US forces), and heavily in Russia, where top Russian Aces flew it. This dual nation role is pretty cool, and it would give us our FIRST RUSSIAN PLANE! Very much needed imo.
Yak-9
Why?
1. We NEED some Russian FIGHTERS finally.
2. This was one of the best and the most massed produced fighter of Russian in WWII (16,769!!! The next highest was the Lavochkin La-5 at only 9,920). MORE SO, the Russians separated the Yak-1, Yak-3, Yak-7, and Yak-9, which were virtually the same plane but different variants, such as the Spitfire and BF-109 variants! If added together, these planes were 37,000 produced, making it the MOST PRODUCED FIGTHER in history! Crazy. Also
3. It was used by the North Koreans against us in the Korean War (so it gives us another prop plane for the Korean War, like our 1:18 Korean War Corsair).
4. It has those SWEET exhaust lines on the side like the P-40 and P-51 (heck yeah!).
Ilyushin Il-2
Why?
1. This is a SICK LOOKING PLANE, PERIOD!!!
2. Ground-Attack Plane, which compliments our Junkers JU-87's well.
3. 36,000 of these were produced!!! Very common, highly used, and did I say how SWEET it looks!? That canopy is KILLER.
4. It has those cool P-40 & P-51 type exhuast sticking out the sides.
ME-163
1. This dang plane has avoided me long enough, and is a really interesting little German plane that I think has a large market for it.
2. The German paint scheme these planes used offers an amazing looking model in the end.
Mosquito
Why?
1. A dang cool looking British plane, and we can always accept another British plane.
I would PASS on these:
Yak-1
Why?
1. This plane was junk, and suffered the highest Russian losses of any plane, where as the Yak-9 helped turn the tide of a battle for the Russians against the Germans, and again was way more mass produced.
MiG-3
Why?
1. This plane was the source of MAJOR losses for the Russians unfortunately as well, and not a great plane, although the 3rd top Russian Ace did in fact get some kills in one in the beginning of the war.
2. Only 3,400 were even produced, so not only was it not cool, but it wasn't common either. There were serveral Russian fighter planes made, as well as they flew US and British planes, where 7 of those Russian plane designs were more massed produced than this one.
3. I will say that is is a cool looking plane in general (canopy, and exhaust ports look great). It just has no solid historical role for Russia, unlike the Yak-9 Fighter and the Ilyushkin Il-2 Ground Attack planes. These both are just great looking, and were actually top notch and used heavily (like the Zero, Spitfire, P-38 and P-51, and the ME-109).

Re: What Is the Most Wanted Aircraft Project ?
I did the ME163 about a year ago with mild success. If there was enough interest I could bring her out retirement. I think the cost and complexity scared people off.
