Approx 6-8 Week Set Back

Post by pickelhaube » Sat Mar 14, 2015 2:25 pm

Hey guys I had a bad fall at work out in the yard Friday after noon. I fell on my butt jarring my spine re-dislocating my shoulder and to make matters worse broke my right wrist.

I can hardly walk or raise my right arm . I am having to do everything with my left hand and it is not easy .

so everything is on hold right now except the Humvee project . I can't mix any resin or RTV right now . I am thinking of sending the jagdpanther parts to daremo and see if he could possibly take over making the molds as well as pouring the parts.

I am also trying to teach my wife how to pour the resin but she has a hard time separating the mold after the pour so I am not sure how that will work.

right now even typing is a chore .

this does truly suck and using the bathroom to do # 2 is purely horrific.

Sorry to hear that PH. Get well soon as they say, and don't let something like making molds and casting parts keep you from getting the rest you need to recover in a timely fashion.

Sorry to hear about your accident Mate. As Studly said over 50 and things heal more slowly. Please look after yourself and get better in your own time - the models can wait Matthew!!!

As all have said already, your full and speedy recovery is most important. Don't compromise it by trying to do things you shouldn't. :(

Your fall sounded really nasty. I took a fall on ice recently. Caught me totally off guard. I got lucky as it was near zero and I was bundled up with enough padding to come away with just a sore butt.

Take care :!:

thanks guys for all of the well wishing .

day 3 and things are still miserable . I still can't lay in bed at night to go to sleep so another night sitting up in the lazy boy chair with on and off sleep .

my biggest dilemma was with the jagdpanther mold that I poured before I fell. Friday was the day I should have separated the 2 halves and that did not happen. the longer the 2 pours- top and bottom halves-remain together the harder it is to separate them .

after 3 days it is impossible to separate the halves without cutting the rubber ruining the mold..i learned this lesson years ago .

so I had the wife try. no way . I tried not a good idea .what was dr. smith's FROM LOST IN SPACE always saying ? the pain oh the pain.

my wife went to the neighbor's house . this guy owns his own transmission shop so maybe he had what it takes but it was too much for him. so he went and got my other neighbor .

between the both of them they got the halves separated without damaging the two .

so all is not a loss . I have a buddy coming over Tuesday to see what he can do to take up my slack on the workbench .

let us see how that works out.

Matthew; hope you feel better real soon. Don't stress about projects too much, you have to worry about your health first
