You know how I voted lol, but even if the Jagdpanther gets more votes maybe you should throw the modern guys a bone first. They haven't had the good fortune of a new pickle kit in a long while. You might even be able to grab some extra sales from the modern guys on ebay. Just a thought my friend, looking forward to the Jagdpanther and the 251 backdate.

Normandy,

I love looking at those production pics .

Look at those mounting clips that hold that fender rail down the sides.

I have never noticed that detail before.

I have finally got the chance to get back into the studio this weekend after 3 long weeks of playing hooky . ( road trip to Cali )

I started playing with the pieces I have of the Jagdpanther that I got from the Hun who is no longer producing them .

I have told a few guys but I will tell the rest of you all as well.

back in the day when my work was more regulated I just did not have the time to produce anything but I had time to make "one of's ". The Hun lives about 4 hours away from me and I always thought that the Jagdpanther was a cool vehicle . I took a weekend trip up to see the Hun with the intentions of building a Jadgpather ( J P ) together . I brought up scale drawings and the time I was there we made the hull , mantlet well and sows head mantlet . I left the project for him to finish with the agreement that I would get a copy for my efforts.

Well I went back a few years later and got my copy and it has been in a box since that time. Well I got the chance to look at the parts this weekend and realized that my rendition will not be the cake walk that I thought it was going to be.

Here is the rundown after inspection.

1. No barrel ( although my Tiger II barrel is the same one used on the JP )
2. Hull is correct
3. Sows head mantlet incorrectly shaped
4. The mantlet well that he gave must have been a goof piece because all of the bullet proofed nuts are missed shapen and do not line up.
5. Fighting compartment roof top. Looks like all of the pieces on top are rough and the details are not refined.

After some research the sow head mantlet was altered from the early to late models. The one we made was a combination of all of them .

I still have the scale drawing that I made but as of this Sunday I purchased a 1/35 kit of the late production JP off of ebay and I will use that to try and get everything right .

I have tried to fix the mantlet well and sows head but I need to hold off until I get the model in my hand so I do not have to correct my corrections. :? :? :?

So officially I have started the JP , but it looks like I should have started the HUMVEE first.

Now I need to get back on those Jagdtigers .

Matthew, I thought these pictures of the Jagdpanther production line were interesting.
You can see some great details in these shots. If you look at the forth picture, you'll see a Jagdpanther
next inline to have its road wheels put on.... note the row of wheels to the left of the tank.
In the second and third pictures you can see the group / row of wheels and that tank from a different angle.
Look at all the engine sitting there. 8)

Maritime, great photos! The Jagdpanther is my favorite German tank.

Here is a semi update. I finally got the late Jagdpanther ( JP ) kit in and as I suspected I was going in the wrong direction .

Now I have something to scale off of to try and get the accuracy down.

I have already made the ballistic bolts that go on the mantlet as well as about 95 of the manlet shape.

And as stated before I have the hull roughed in.

I still have not taken the comp down to get it fixed so posting pics from a camera is still un doable.

The Jagdpanther is an excellent choice. I'd thought about modifying a 21st century panther to model this vehicle. The gun mantlet might be a little tricky to fabricate, though.

I need to finish the JT project before I jump on this full time.

Yes the Berge would be cool to do as well.
