CanberraPaul's 1/18 Pickelhaube King Tiger
I snapped a few pics before she goes on her trip to Australia. Her and I spent one month together, 6 hrs+ a day so putting her in the box was hard.
Nice kit Mathew
See them all in my photobucket

This is the greatest work I've seen done on such a large model!
Awesome work to both of you!

Re: CanberraPaul's 1/18 Pickelhaube King Tiger
Thanks Guys!
This particular King Tiger was interesting to me because it was the tip of the spear during the Battle of the Bulge, being part of Pieper's group. Then being abandoned in perfect condition due to a lack of fuel. It was then recovered by the Americans and they decided to return it to England or the states for evaluation. As it drove toward Antwerp it suffered a major engine problem of some kind and was again abandoned, eventually it was shoved off the road and down into a valley where it sat for almost ten years before being cut up for scrap in the 1950s. It came so close to surviving the war and being in a museum today.
The King tiger was very underpowered and the US driver may have just pushed it to fast. The King Tiger shared the same engine as the Panther and worked well in the 45 ton Panther but overheated in the 68 ton King Tiger.
