Hold on to your computer chairs:

$219

We'll see how many they sell at that price...

Great too see HM do another aircraft in 1/ 32, as their Dauntless was excellent.

Hellcat does make a certain amount of sense, but would have preferred a Corsair, if they were going to do a PTO fighter in 1/32. Although that would compete with their just done Corsair in 1/48.

Never was a big Hellcat fan, and although it was very effective against the Japanese, just had the least amount of character and charisma of any US WWII fighter, in my opinion.

However, for the PTO guys, this would be most welcome. But if that $219 MSRP is legit, pretty steep for a 1/32 scale fighter. And even a Hellcat fan would be hard pressed to get more than one.

LAME CHOICE.

REVELL, TRUMPETER and BLUE BOX TOYS have already done a 1:32 Hellcat.
Don't these people research whats already out there?

BBI did the F-4 Wildcat, not the Hellcat.

Hellcat has been done in 1/48, and in 1/18, but not 1/32. At least in prebuilt "diecast"

Why not a Vindicator, Devastator or an Avenger?

Or something Japanese other than a Zero?

For that price they can keep it, but it would be a nice edition if you had the money.

This is a good choice in many respects. The Zero, Corsair, F4F Wildcat have all been done in prebuilt 1:32 (albeit in plastic) and this won't be a duplicate aircraft like the Hobby Master Dauntless was to the BBI version in the same scale. (I've never purchased the Hobby Master 1:32 Dauntless, namely due to price concerns and the fact that I really like my BBI 1:32 version). I am tempted to consider the Hellcat, for the sake of variety and completeness in that scale, but $219 is pretty steep. The Corgi 1:32 Mosquito I just purchased cost less and almost certainly has more diecast on its larger airframe. Still, I think one could expect a significant level of detail unless Hobby Master really decides to cheapen things out!

The PLASTIC GENERAL stands humiliated and corrected!!
All these years I have owned the REVELL & BLUE BOX 1:32 WILDCATS, thinking that they were HELLCATS!!
Because of what you guys said, I poured over my reference books to see what the hell you were all talking about and of course, it straightened me out!
My discovery puts a whole NEW perspective on the new HOBBY MASTER HELLCAT.
Now I want one, but the price is too much, so I'll just buy a HASEGAWA or TRUMPETER kit.
Way cheaper!

If you find the right dealer you won't pay MSRP.

I already got a good deal on a Trumpeter F6F-5N for just $26 last fall, so I'm passing on this as well.

$100 is all I would ever pay for a die-cast HELLCAT.
It's not that I'm cheap, if I want something I'll pay for it.
My 1:32 B-17 = $300 was well worth it!
My 1:32 B-25 = $200 well worth it!
Besides, I don't like the over use of heavy metal in planes.
Like the shitty FOV aircraft, too heavy for even their own landing gears,
they collapse under their own weight.
If I had it my way, all the pre-made 1:32 aircraft would have:

*PLASTIC BODIES with METAL LANDING GEARS & PROPELLERS.
* Always include a seated & standing pilot!
* Price = $75

$219 for this plane ? Are they dreaming in lala land :D ?
$150 is more reasonable and will attract more collectors. I'll pass as well.

I'm glad they got to the Hellcat, but yeah, that price is about $50 more than the Dauntless, isn't it? And it doesn't come with the stand? I hope that price is adjusted, because I'd like to wait for additional paint schemes...

What the Hellcat are they thinking...?

Post by c44 » Mon Sep 16, 2013 9:18 pm

If BadCat's info is correct, the MSRP is actually $250, as in "Surely, You Jest"...I doubt we'll see it anywhere for under 200...I've been priced out of the market... :(

I imagine the prices dropping a little after release.

You'd think BBI would have done a 1:32 F6F a long time ago. I wouldn't have cared if it had folding wings.
Right about now it would probably be over $50, but under $100 for sure.
Like Tman mentioned it's one of the gaps in the 1:32 21stC, BBI pre-built plastic lineup, but not for the average wallet.

Unless this model has an extremely low production number, I'm predicting reduced prices/sales. There's a overwhelming consensus that the price of this model is super inflated, and HM is going to want to sell multiple schemes in the future....

They overpriced their 1/144 scale line, and re-adjusted.... They're testing the market now.

I've seen this for under $200, with the stand as a pre-order, limited time offer.

I think a HM 1/32 diecast Hellcat is worth that price. Glossy Sea Blue all the way, any day. Love it. More please.
