Just finished building this model. It's a Tamiya 1:48. Hope you like the pictures.

Looks good. I love the weathering.

Nice work on the IL-2. 8) A lot of people think that the Soviet planes were mostly green over blue/gray, with black added, sometimes. Actually, many of the attack planes and bombers sported more sophisticated, multi-colored, schemes as your model depicts.

Thanks for the comment guys. This is my first Russian attack plane. I still have modern Su 25 Frog foot to build next. I love Russian military hardware and think they look very cool.

A nice build, cnq. Well done.

Can't believe that nobody has done the Sturmovik, not even IXO.

Think it was the most produced plane in the Second World War, and made a significant impact. Think it would be a good seller, with many collectors getting at least one.

IXO did release an IL-2M and also, an IL-10, in 1:72nd, Snake. Both were pretty bad models. I assume that War Master will get around to these planes in due time as it is reprising all of the IXOs, one by one.

Thanks for the info, Ed.

Didn't realize that, and haven't seen one, although I haven't been checking.

And you are right. It is a pretty bad model.

Wouldn't waste my time with that one. What a shame. :(

Like you say, maybe War Master will do an improved version. Be nice if Corgi or Hobby Master would do one, but doubt that will happen any time soon.

It was also IIRC the most shot down aircraft of WWII.

Although Corgi, HM, SkyMax, etc. have shunned the IL-2, while IXO butchered it---mainly in the add-ons ( spinner, landing gear ), other lines have also made diecast renditions of this famous ground attack plane. All were done in approximately the 1:100th scale, first by Model Power ( this one has the oil cooler's air pipe on the wrong side ) and the Atlas Editions version ( which has a badly done and painted canopy ) and, recently, by another publisher series, DeAgostini, which features two versions, the early single seater and the later two seater. Of these the DeAgostini single seater is far and away the best---they even included those aiming circles in front of the cockpit. The picture, below, shows three of the unusual DeAgostini birds---a Lagg-3, a SU-2 and, below them, the IL-2:Image

very nice collection Epap. I also have a small collection of diecast planes in 1:72 mostly from Corgi and Hobby Master.
