Question about German AA vehicles and uses of the quad 38
Specifically, would it be appropriate to mount one in back of a 21C Opel Blitz? I have found a couple of pics of Maultiers with one in back, but I have yet to confirm their use on a fully-wheeled Opel. I'm missing a keyword somewhere when I search, I guess.
Can anyone here provide a link to photo evidence?
I have a 1/32 kit of the Wirbelwind I wish to split into an Opel w/AA and a Pz IV sporting an 88mm.

Yes, the Obel used it. Need to find a pic though!

Really? With the whole quad-gun assembly mounted on the back, or just the single unit?

Well, obviously without the shield turret - just the gun.
I am picturing something like this in non-tracked form:
My guess is the single rear axle cannot support the weight of the quad and that is why you see it more on the sdkfz 7/1. If the Germans ever did put one on an Opel, apparently no one took a picture.
Looks like I might have a spare 38 quad available for trade in the near future for any other 1/32 kit builders out there. It's from the early Monogram kit in the green box - the Flakpanzer.

According to panzer colors volume 1 page 87 the maultier had less load capacity than the blitz and only carried the single flak 36 or 38

There has been some talk that those photos are of a Mercedes L 4500.....

....But what if an Opel Blitz was used to transport a Quad 38 and it came under attack? I'd shoot back.
It may not have been common practice to mount a 38 on a Blitz, but it does look cool.

I cant find any references in my books of the quad on the blitz. It says some did have armored cabs though. Can anyone confirm.
