Battleground Toys - Panzer 38t first print

Post by grunt1 » Fri Nov 02, 2012 2:02 pm

Hey guys,

I'm going to try to post all updates in a single thread. There is a website now at http://www.battlegroundtoys.com That's where the most current information will be posted first, but I'll get it over here pretty quickly too.

Anyway, I'll post some more this weekend. Many of the models have been updated.

Grunt!

Oh and any feedback you have on the site or the models is very welcome!

Grunt,
Is that a 1:18 scale Higgins boat on your website??
Is this brand new?
When might we see more of it?

It's the same boat posted here a couple years ago. Cost was always the biggest issue with something that big. It may be worth dusting that project off again given how much I've been able to reduce the cost of the current models. The original Nebelwerfer was $135 and is now less than half of that. I'll take a look after I get through the current wave of releases.

Shapeways has been down due to Sandy so I don't have any of these in hand, but here is what is done and will be printed for you to see as soon as they are back up:

Updated Schwimmwagen

- Engine vents with grates

- Rifle mounts and strengthened grab bar
- Muffler cover
- Front end detailed
- Snap on wheels
- Headlamp covers
- Redesigned Propeller mount (raises and lowers)

- Horn added
- Both canopies (up and folded)
- Deployed top has window and cover now
- Thinner (more accurate), sectioned, snap in seats
- Foot pedals
- Updated oar and shovel handles
- Entire model scaled up in size to be 1:18 figure appropriate

Thanks a bunch to CplSlade for the feedback on the Schwimmer. I'm pretty sure he still won't like it, but I tried. :D

Updated Flak 38
- Available with and without trailer
- Rivets added to gun shields
- Optics are adjustable
- Trailer body tubing increased in diameter (accuracy)

Goliath
- Now comes with a control box and strap

Pak 36
- Comes with Stielgranate 41, which allowed it to take out much larger tanks!
- Gun rotates left and right
- Gun elevates up and down
- Two more ammo crates (total of three) closed, open, and one with carry handle up
- Ammo fits into gun breech
Image

Pack Howitzer

Yay! Thanks Jesse :D

Shapeways is back online. I think the orders are delayed by a few days but they have recovered from Sandy.

Oh and here are the Kettenkrad updates:

Image

The driver cockpit is about 2mm wider to fit certain 21C figures that had slightly more beefy thighs than others. The front end snaps onto the body better as well.

I'm not too skilled with assembly and even less so with paint but I might need to take the plunge on a couple of these.

Jnew, I just now saw your post. I'm making sure everything works by ordering one first myself so that adds about three weeks to the process.

The updated models for the bicycles, Puma, Flak 38, Sd.Ah.41 Flak Trailer, LeIG, Panther II, Nebelwerfer, Lafette, Pak 36, MBT Trailer, Kettekrad, Anh.1 Kettenkrad Trailer are all done.

First prints for all of those, except for the Schwimmer, are on the way to my house in four different orders so any day now I'll know how they turned out and can then post them for sale immediately. So far only the Puma body, stowage and the Panther II turret and gun have arrived. Pics later today.

The model is done on the Schwimmer, but I still have some scale concerns and was hoping to measure a live one yesterday at the Auburn museum but it wasn't there. I was able to get a lot of very accurate measurements on a bunch of other items in the December pipeline though which will be real helpful! Of the 140 vehicles in the museum over 80 are being sold in an auction on December 8th so I made sure to get good photos and measurements of everything I needed before it gets spread out over hells half acre.

It's really tragic.. A lot of it is in original condition, including paint! Hopefully most of it ends up in other museums. Here is what is for sale:

For all those interested in placing a shapeways order, today might be a good day to place it. There's a 20% discount coupon code good for today (11/23/2012) only on orders $75 and up: enter code tdzmu at checkout. Alternatively, you can get free shipping (worth $6.50) using code v9v7r.

Just ordered a 'krad. Would've liked the latest mods, but the 20% deal was too good to pass up. 8)

Cheers!

Wow, thanks aae! They did the 20% discount last year around Christmas and I was wondering if and when it would be this year. I'll work something out for you guys so you can get the updated Kettenkrad front end by itself at cost when it's done.

I received a batch of first prints today and posted the updated models to Shapeways for purchase for anyone that wants to take advantage of the Shapeways sale.

Now available:
- New Nebelwerfer 41 v2
- Scout Bicycle
- Bicycle with Panzerfausts v2
- Sd.Ah.1 Trailer v2 (For Kettenkrad)
- Puma Chassis
- Puma Wheels
- Puma Accessories

Their sale ends at midnight eastern, not in my control, sorry!

Thanks for the heads up. I grabbed a Kett and a Panzerbüchse 41. That sale was too good to pass up. What is the info on the Puma, will the turret be coming soon and will you eventually offer it with all it's parts together as a complete kit? Thanks for making these great items. :D

Thanks for the heads up on the sale, grunt1! Been meaning to get a Kettenkrad and finally bit the bullet. It was nice to get a nice chunck of it discounted as well. I've got my workbench set up for building projects, so I've got the place to build it - and now space to display it
