I will be ordering myself a Kettenkrad in 1/32 this Wednesday. This is a 2010 mold from the people who made the Shinden in 1/32 (although those are currently sold out :( ).

The Monogram M48A2 "Patton" was listed in some releases as "1/32" but is actually a good 1/35th scale. I have seen comparisons between the Mongram kit and the Tamiya M48A3 - very, very close! I believe that the M34 "Eager Beaver" deuce-and-a-half is also 1/35th (or closer to that than 1/32nd).

The "Revell" wrecker is a re-boxed version of the old Renwal kit. The truck was an M62 wrecker and was released in US Army markings, then re-released in "civillian" markings for use with 1/32nd scale slot cars. Speaking of slot cars, Monogram used to support 1/32nd slot cars and made two sets of drivers, mechanics, and spectators - these were usable for conversions to tank crews and mechanics. VERY rare nowadays. Back to the wrecker - Revell picked up the old Renwal molds and re-released it. I have one of these unassembled in a crappy box - does anybody need one? Make me an offer :-)

Renwal also made an M50 "Ontos" tank destroyer. I don't think that Revell has re-released this one yet. They also made a truck-mounted LaCrosse missle launcher in 1/32nd (not to be confused withthe rare, but more common Revell version in 1/40th scale). Renwal also made a mediocre M41 "Bulldog" light tank and an M42 "Duster" twin 40mm AA tank. I think Revell MIGHT have re-popped the M42 sometime in the past.

In metal, Wm Britains has done a US 105mm howitzer, a US 75mm pack howitzer, a German truck (I have the "ambushed" version) and TWO versions of the M8 armored car, as well as a Kettenkrad, all in 54mm/1/32nd scale.

I have the CTS Churchill. Lovely model but the scale is army men 1/40 style. Very small.
It really should not be on the list.

The Frontline Churchill is the correct length but very tall and wide.
I'm not sure if it is correct for that version, but it looks very strange, especially the height.

The Tamiya Panzer II ausf F is a perfect 1/35 in my book.

Please note that in the post it states that these are smaller than 1/32. Vehicles in the post are either 1/32 scale, marketed as a different scale and are actually 1/32 scale, or are marketed as 1/32 scale and are something else. Please read all the notes in the posting.

Also, are you referring to the vintage tamiya panzer II F made in the 70s that was motorized?

Cool beans. I'm a bit interested in picking up the Ta-152 at some point as well, and even though I don't really do post-WWII stuff I do like the looks of that Skyraider.

Before that I will be getting one or two of those sets of figures for the Kett. A bit of a pisser that a driver isn't included, but I do like those extra sets they have. I know I'm getting the set with the rifleman trying to shoot from the back of the bike.

I was talking about the Tamiya 35009 kit.

If you're going to include pieces that are 1/32 fakes they really should go in their own "scam" category.

Please read the entire post above. Those pieces that are advertised as 1/35, but have been determined to be 1/32 scale are marked as such with an asterisk.

The panzer II that is referenced in this thread is the MT132 vintage motorized version. It is on unconfirmed status because I don't own one, nor do any members here to confirm its size. 35009 is neither vintage nor motorized, as the description above states.

I'm saying the pieces that are falsely advertized as 1/32 would be better presented separately from those that can pass for 1/32.

35009 is not vintage or motorized as such, but it's still the same kit.
It's just fabricated at a later date and not including the motor parts.

I have not seen it written anywhere that the 35009 kit is the same as the MT132 kit. They have different box art and different molds, since the MT132 had holes for motorization and I think pre-dated 35009. However, since no one here can confirm or not its scale by actual possession, I will yield to what those members at the Airfix Tribute Forum had to say on the matter and it will be removed:

I also moved some of the advertised 1/32 stuff that actually isn't to an "Imposters" section of the list.

35009 is the old mold, as can be seen here:
http://www.whybee.co.uk/tamiya/images/35009_03.JPG

Someone needs to confirm, I don't own the kits, but the following should be correct:
The Bandai Hummel is not 1/32, it's just built on the wrong chassis.

They built it on their Panzer IV chassis, which is 1/30, making the Hummel measure like it's 1/32 lenghtwise, but it really just has a hull that is too short.
Check out the suspension, it's the same as their PzIV.

This means also, of course, that the Heuschreche and Jagdpanzer are actual 1/30.

Like I said, I can not personally confirm, so if someone has one of these kits it would be helpful.

You might have a 'falsely rumored to be 1/32' for items that have been dismissed.

The Bandai Hummel is 1/32. The reason for that is actually the same reason why you said it isn't; is uses the same chassis as the other Bandai panzer IV-based 1/30 offerings. IRL the Hummel/Nashorn/Hornisse all used the Geschützwagen III/IV chassis, essentially a panzer IV chassis lengthened by approx. 10 inches with engine and drivetrain redesigns (approx. b/c different sources give dimensions). Given that the dimensions for the Hummel are almost spot on (just measured them, width and length are each about 2mm too big, about 2.5 inches too big if you were to increase it to 1/1 scale). The others 1/30 stuff (I have all of them) are too big length-wise by about 1 cm and about 2mm too wide, which are about 5% too big each. The reason they wound up here in the first place though is because they fit right in with 21st Century's Panzer IV offerings. If you noticed there is a discrepancy between the size of an FOV Panzer IV and a 21st Century Panzer IV. The FOV is pretty much dead on dimension-wise, the 21st century one being closer to 1/31 scale. The reason the Bandai tanks will remain on the list is because they fit right in with 21st century Toys Panzer IVs, and they are more like 1/31 scale than 1/30 scale which is judged by many to be way too big too tolerate.

And the reason I didn't do height is because the length/width was easy to do on unassembled models, the height is not (without putting on road wheels and tracks and turrets etc etc).

So the Bandai PzIV chassis is too narrow, I didn't know that.
That indeed makes the Hummel more like 1/32.

Yeah, I know the 21st Panzer IV is pretty enormous.
I see what you mean by matching size to them.

If you're going to use that logic you should add the Ogonek offerings as well.
They made A KV-85, ISU-152, ISU-122, IS-3, and T-34 85.

I don't know about the T-34 as I don't have it, but the rest of them are all made on a 1/30 scale KV-1S chassis.

The good news on the scale is that the both the Ogonek and FOV dimensions are off in such a way that they match pretty well. The overall width measured at the tracks is just about the same and the Ogonek is only about 5mm longer.

They are a great way of fleshing out your commie horde.

You might want to add info to size-but-not-scale matched stuff.
Pretty helpful to know what you're getting...

Too true, I cannot believe I forgot about the Ogenok kits... DOH! I own all of them, but they are hidden under my desk so they must have just not caught my eye while compiling the list. The T-34 is the same size as the FOV one. I will add them before the weekend its over.

I even made two of the Ogenoks, the KV-85 and ISU-122, into an 1/32 JS-2:
http://www.warbird-photos.com/gpxd/view ... 32#p260054

Dimensions were about 6 mm too wide for 1/32, but that would put it at around 1/31. Length-wise it was spot on.

That is insanely sweet work on the IS-2.
Congratulations on your talent and patience!
You didn't get around to fixing the suspension problems?

I'm a fan of the ISU-152 + ISU-122 combo hit, so no IS-2 for me.
It's enough work trying to turn them into WWII era versions.

Maybe you should include the info that they are post war.
Might be a deal breaker for lots of people.

Thank you for the compliment! I overlooked a few things while building this thing (namely the holes in the hull sides for the motorization) but I wasn't aware there were suspension problems. Admittedly I am no Russian armor expert. I used this build article written a few years ago by Ray Mehlberger to guide me on the stuff that needed to be done:

I will put the info that they are post war when I add them. Some people might care, but i have a feeling that most people won't give a hoot about some different fenders and an extra hatch and would care more about having some "Animal Killers" to field against those tigers and king tigers!

P.S. 32scale, if you like the IS-2, you should check out my other builds:

Just picked up a Monogram Panzerjager IV for $35.

Kit is complete except for two crew figures absent (I only got the standing infantryman) and the decals are shot. Lots of silverfish gnawing on the instructions, but I'm still excited.

Now I have 88 pieces in my 1/32 collection, with 75 being unique. I have 44 planes/44 armor but more duplicate planes, courtesy of Mustangs and 109s of course.

Still, from what I see available on the market I've got about that amount more to collect, especially since I am considering different versions of a plane to be a different craft, i.e. FW190D9 is a different plane from an FW190F8. I have only 21C's Spitfire so I've those variations to look forward to.

Wish there was a cheap source of Panzer IV chassis to build off of; I have one extra left over from a Monogram Wirbelwind I bought to use the gun in an Opel. Just looking at PanzerArm's "History of the Pzkpfw IV" shows the potential of that platform.

Granted, the downside is the labor is all on me but at least I have stuff to look forward to still. I'm happy with the forthcoming B-25 and Uhu and it's nice FOV did a German ambulance and some other trucks, but I would like to see some new armor types soon, like a Wespe or Pzkpfw I.

Intersting list. How did the Glenco kits scale out, they usd to mak a flying jeep; PT76; BTR50 and a Frog3. I think trumpter made a 1/32 type 59 when they first started up. I think matchbox may have released some of the renwall molds as well.

Was the Revell(?) Nike-hurchles 1/32?

I remember the old days when you had a drappy choice between 1/32 and 1/40 scale or the off ones like 1/21 or 1/30. It was nice just to have armor, 30 0r 40 pieces, some testors glue and paint....those were the days.

I have the Frog and the PT76. They're 1/32. Relatively easy kits. I think the Revell Nike is 1/40.
