custom painted,or original paint?
custom painted,or original paint?
I just bought a custom painted halftrack.I like it so much, that i am starting to consider painting some of my vehicles(or at least try)i will practice with some broken vehicles first. My only worries is that the value of my 1/18 armor may be lost in the years to come,if the vehicles go up on the collectors market. At this point i am 50/50 undecided .
I want to hear what other feel about painting their armor.

Re: custom painted,or original paint?
i don't worry about future value since i have no intention of every selling these things. So i just do what i like. Most of the time they are original just because i'm lazy.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

I love repainting them! But, I also have ones I would not touch.

I started off collecting factory models but of late I have been collecting Jnewboys customs. As you can tell I have fallen for them and are only going to be collecting customs from now on. With each custom you get something uniquely painted.

Re: custom painted,or original paint?
I like my armor to be in the factory-stock condition, but then I have customized some pieces as well. This is as simple as adding accessories to a stock-condition vehicle, repainting defects, or going all out to completely customize an existing piece.
I think 21c and BBI did some perfect schemes for much of their armor, but customization potentially adds a lot of realism to a model that was left out of the original.

I always have big ideas about customizing but I have tremors and can't do any brush work. Plus I'm lazy so my stuff stays original.

Re: custom painted,or original paint?
some factory paintjobs are not bad especially if you can do a simple wash to them to dull the shinny plastic look but I usually repaint everything on the ground, some planes are good out of the box but should be detailed so they dont look like toys compared to the custom painted ones... so if you start customizing your stuff its hard to stop..
Re: custom painted,or original paint?
i just keep with the original since i'm too lazy, although everytime i look at my birds i often wonder what cooler colors i could paint them with

Wouldn't worry about the resale value unless it is a 1/16 King Tiger.
