Are there 2 different Power Team patrol boats?

Post by aferguson » Sat Mar 26, 2011 9:23 am

i've notice that there seem to be 2 different versions of the power team RIB patrol boat.

This one, with the helm near the stern:

and this one with the helm closer to the bow:

are they different or can it just be set up in different ways?

I just took a look at mine, they're different. If you want both you'll need to get one of each. You can't get two of the same and built both from it.

that's very strange that they made two different ones.

Quick way to make more money from the tooling. I think the parts are the same just assembled at the factory different. Better than a repaint IMHO.

Most of the parts are the same, but each has it's own also. The mounting holes for the most of the same parts are in different locations on the hull. This photo shows better then I can explain. Pardon the dust.

that is very interesting. I like the grey one with the rails for figures to hold better. I've never seen one like the black one without any seats.

Gonna have to get me one of these sometime.

Not certain, but I think the one without seats is the same as the one in your first link. The swimmers lay down just inside and roll over the side to disembark.

The one with the cockpit at the rear of the boat could be excellent for indian Ocean/Somalian pirates, no seats needed. I had such a project, with the boat stopped, overflew from a Supercobra. But could neither find this version of the boat, nore collect anough black men with very few mil equipment and less well feeded than regular soldiers...
The other one is, as all PTE, too small. The genuine patrol boat has more seats per row (as I saw on pictures, 3 or 4 instead of 2) and perheaps 1 more row.

actually, the navy seals had (have) a 24 foot RIB as well. It's very much like the PTE one, with just a few seats. They were supplemented by 30 and 36 foot RIBs that could hold a whole seal squad, but the 30 is no longer used and the 36's are being phased out. The 24's are still being used.
