THINGS THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN

Post by thatf14guy » Tue Aug 24, 2010 12:41 pm

This is a forum for the things that we all wished would have been. Like the 1/18 F-4 Phantom. Maybe one day if we all keep throwing pennies in the wishing well.

skyworks you need this prototype!

Yes, that was one that should have been. Had everything gone according to plan, we would have gotten the F-4 before the F-14 was ever thought of, though I don't see how 21c could have sold it for $90 and still maintained an acceptable level of QC.

Other items on the "could have been" list:
King Tiger
Jagdpanther
A-10
B-25
PBR
Sheridian Tank
WWII Government Building ruin
WWII Bridge
...and more!

It seems to me that someone (I think grunt1) once made a database of 21c prototypes that never saw the light of day.

Wow, I forgot how nice that F-4 model looks. I sure hope someone makes that one in the future. Give me a Thunderbirds F-4E. :D

A spot-less F-14 for starters.

Just sayin'....

Would have loved the A-1 Skyraider but somehow I don't think that's gonna happen.

I would like to see the Phantom too. Best way without colouring for some nice airbrush-Modells (red/black German Richthofen, Blue Angels and so on)

I want a 1/18 f-111, f-22 and 1/18 f-117 nighthawk, now that would be pretty cool. Lots of possiblities thats for sure. Are you listening jsi, skyworks, allgo, we want more!!

Heck, I even had a full price pre-order on the Dauntless for two years with one of our etailers before I just gave up.

Hope those kits are not going to be history or mystery issue, I was really excited to heard the 1/18 scale Phantom、MIG-21、B-25、SBD going to be release in the future but now it seems hopeless.

Oh, seeing the old ads for the B-25 & Mig-21 bring me right back to the last days of 21c. I didn't know it then, but it was the zenith of the good old days. A few months after these announcements the un-expected Walmart rug got pulled from underneath us! Oh what could have been indeed!

As for the F-4... The mass retail support would have worked out just fine at 90-100 bucks. It's amazing how the picture changes when those support dollars are there, that and also the MOQ from china is no longer an issue. Oh well. Would have been nice.

S2 on the Phantom was going to be the sundowners.

S3 was going to be Jolly Rogers. Just some fun info!

Then there was some talk of a foreign scheme for s-4. But it was not settled prior to the big blow up with WM which brought everything to a serious halt.

This is kind of a depressing thread.

Especially when you see the "prototypes".

The F-4 Phantom would have been a fantastic model, and the schemes that could be done are really numerous. This model tops my wishlist of things that could have been. But it is still behind the hopefully to be done JSI F-15, and Su27.

A-1 Skyraider would have been another great model.

Sad to see the box art for the B-25, and the Mig21 as well. :(
