Which aircraft to produce

Post by compfire » Thu Feb 25, 2010 4:04 pm

I am looking for some ideas, feedback, and suggestions on what aircraft we would like to see produced. I have seen post for these in past, but I could find any of them. The reason I am asking, is because I have been in contact with a custom builder that is looking into producing some different aircraft (not P-51, or Corsairs). Please give me some idea of both what you want, and what might sell. Thanks

BTW - my vote is for a F-4 Phantom II or an A-10

Darn it. Have I no originality in my own tastes?

Let me make clear - I am not a band-wagoner.
However, I must admit, too, that the P-39 Aircobra NEEDS to be produced.

How about an ME-163 Komet. Smaller in 1:18th than most other Aircraft in this scale and maybe a good first choice.

If you want to "go big" then A-10 or F4 Phantom for sure. If you want to start smaller the P39 or a good Hurricane would be nice. If you want an easier way to get feedback you should set this up as a Poll.

Does your buddy have any pics of the stuff he has done before ?

Plus I was gearing up to do a A-10 in 1/18 scale and I was getting ready to start and get deposits. But the rumor was hard with JSI making one.

So the XD world has been on hold waiting for them to make us one.

Me-163 has already been done: http://www.militarytoyshop.com/product. ... &PT_ID=238

Doubt anyone could offer it as a kit better than $150.00.

The reason I pick this is there are no engines to make! lol, the cockpit glass will be hard enough unless I get one of those guys who can shrink wrap it or what ever they do I forgot...

If you can LMK the price.

And PH if you can make a 163 any cheaper I would get one
:D But his also comes with decals,, think think.

Thanks for all the great feedback! Keep it coming.

Thanks to pickelhaube for the links to the other polls (I couldn't find those, but I knew I had seen them).

Pickelhaube, I don't know if he has pics of the work he has done in the past, but I will check and see if I can get some. Up till now he has worked with balsa wood for his modifications, but I believe the other person he is working with, has experience with resin.

As far as the the Me-163, yes there is a "kit" for $150, but for those of us that can't finish or paint a kit, $450 for a finished plane is a bit high for many collectors.

On the A-10, I know about the rumors about JSI making one, which scares others from building it, but as a collector, I just want someone to make it, and it will remain on the top of my list until it is done.

And you based that opinion on your experience with with only one airplane kit you made P36 which you sold for over$200 and was not full kit but only fuselage no wings, stabs ,lading gear?

P-39 Aircobra is my choice. So many paint patterns possible.... pre-war, WW2 American, Ruskie.

A P-39 would be a great addition to a groundpounder like me with a limited air collection.
