WHAT 1/18 COMPANY DO YOU PREFER?

Post by thatf14guy » Thu Feb 04, 2010 1:12 pm

There are several different 1/18 companies out there. Some with very similiar products, and some with very different options. Which do you prefer to buy your products from?

Skyworks!

Just not the price tag...

I wish he would make more ground vehicles in kit form....for around $40-$80! Ah that would be AWESOME but we would need a lot of buyers to make it worth going that low I would assume.

WHO EVER MAKE A MOSQUITO OR B-25 FIRST :D :D

Really I like different aspects of each companies products, so i cannot 100% claim one over the other as my all time pick. I know that sounds like a politician, but that's just how I see it.

Unimax and Hasbro deserves a mention though they may not be favorites

A merger into a super company would be my fav - 21st Blue Boxes of Valor

or they can all split into 20 smaller companies and release one new product each per year :D

The majority of the 1:18 items I have come from 21st Century Toys. They had the biggest and most varied selection - and generally - quality control. So I would guess they are the company I most prefer.

Second would be BBI as I have one of more of each of their varied selection of modern and WWII aircraft and vehicles. I've got lots of their figures as well.

Thirdly, I would have to say Unimax, givent that I have their tanks (minus the LAV and Tiger) and a whole ton of their great figures.

AT and JSI are at the bottom of the list, though my one JSI item is quite impressive 8)

They did - it is the Bf-109 pilot. It looks great, came with the flight helmet, parachute and 98 mauser rifle, but has very little articulation and is an inch too short.

I have him, BBI needs to make a full line of german figures.

I'm not gonna fanboy for any manufactures. If you do crap i'm gonna call you on it.

That said, I think Bbi does the best work that i've personally seen.

Their problem is lack of opposition forces.

Well I've got to go with Pickelhaube Productions.
I do hope these 1:18th companies take note of all the custom guys that made kits or parts for existing models.
While the economics of this past year slowed or halted production of some of the big companies, Pickel, The Hun, Grunt and others have been listening to the collectors wants and wishes. They know what we want and make it!
That is a resource I'd have my R&D people tap into. Bring them on board or buy their prototypes.

As for the poll...didn't vote. Always been a fan of 21st! BBI great U.S. figures (why don't you make German figures?) FOV and Admiral, I collect their stuff as well.
There's money to be made! They just need to listen.............

21 Century has the broadest range.

But BBI has better quality.

Hard to chose one over the other,as they both have their strengths.
