Pavehawk window production almost done

Post by pickelhaube » Mon Nov 16, 2009 12:32 pm

I have had renewed interest in the 1/18 BBI window frames . Is it time to get back at them ? Here are the pics of the ROUGHED IN window frames.I will make window that go between the pop in frame and the side adt. They will be static non sliding.

Any more guys interested in them ?

Also I have been told ( by and ex Marine) that they used external .50 cals on those exterior mounts. Any more interest in those. Here is a post to see what they look like.

Does anybody know how to bring this post up as a picture and not a click on ?

I'm in Matthew!

Thanks for the link. That's a great looking bird. Have you thought about making the M2, nose sensors, rescue winch and the chaff dispensers like the ones on the MH-60 in the photos?

Still trying to work on the price. I will try to keep the price down.

How about this.

How much do you think that they are worth ?

It would probably be a 2 day project for the average modeler with questionable results. The way I will design this is it will take about 10 mins to cut out the window and about 5 seconds to pop mine in.

As with my Pavey parts I will offer this in white resin .

Gray that matches the background on the Pave almost perfect.

Black UNLESS SOMEONE CAN TELL ME (or find ) A GOOD MATCH TO THE DARK OD GREEN PAVEY.

Mathew,
Hate to go off topic, but had a question about the miniguns. I got a couple a while back and am just now getting to them. Do I need to cut the end of the barrel off (the solid part with no holes for flash suppression) and then glue on the flash suppressors that were included? At first I thought the flash suppressor part would just get glued on top of the current barrel but that appears to be too long afterwards. Looking at yours it appears the barrel end should have holes in it and my bag of parts that came with the guns has what looks like flash suppressor ends with holes in it.

No just glue on the flash surpressure. You had one of the first ones I guess were I tried to put the slots. I gave up and just made the flash a solid tube.

That is how the current ones are made anyway..

The tube just needs to slide on about 1/16 of an inch.

BTW the whole mini is about 1/4 inch long. I made it that way. When I designed it scale looked a little short. So I made it a little long. I stated this in the build way back when.

Almost ALL of .50 cals out there are about 1/4 TOO long as well.

Sometimes it is a big line between scale and looking scale.

As long as it looks right go with it.

I started back on the window pop ins. Not sure how long it has been since I played with them but it has been a while.

I have the windows started and the right frame is almost done. I will try to post pics on Sunday :D :D :D

I know I always get in trouble when I try to give a price but I am thinking about $25-$35 unpainted.

How does that sound guys ?

Also I was thinking of redoing those hard points . So all you have to do is pop off the BBI and put my correct ones in.

Any interest in those ?

Heck yeah on the hardpoints. Definitely a must if you want it to look correct. I'll take a couple of those.

The price range on the window pop ins sounds good to me too.

Let me know when to send you the funds.

Thanks..... :D

Here is the old pavehawk thread.

Here is the evilness that started it all.

Here are some old pics until I get some updates.

The pics show the plugs I made. The new ones ( if I get more than one guy who wants them ) will look scale and have the nav lights on them. I will see if I can get some clear plastic beads to act as the nav lights blue and red. I think Michaels may have just what I need.

Again if there is more than one guy who would want them.

The window frames fit tight. You probably do not have to glue them i. They look great from the inside as well.

I cut the window out on the other side in about 10 mins with a Dremel tool.

It was real easy just follow the actual window lines on the model. You have to be a little careful and cut up to the corners and don't over cut. Then you can cut the corners out with a razor saw or something of that nature.

The way I have made the frames you can be a little rough and the frames will cover boo boos.
