Gate 1/18 Jeep and Solido 1/18 Jeep

Post by exether_mega » Tue Mar 14, 2006 8:05 am

Hi guys,

just rediscovered my Gate 1/18 Jeep after my moving. I made it as Big Red One MP company.
Other pics are a comparision between Gate and Solido version. Solido one is higher and a lot of details are different. Don't know which one is the more accurate.

Take care.

Cool little custom with that Jeep. :D
Makes you wish those companies would take the plung and make a Recon Car or Scout Car. 8)

Great work with those Jeeps mate :D Nicely done indeed :D

I have both Gates & Solido too & must admit I like them & there easier & cheaper to get than the 21st XD ones too.

Love the touches you`ve done to both jeeps mate :D

I feel the future for us is customization of existing models. With the very few new vehicles coming out, customization is a great way to keep us busy, home and out of trouble 8)

Great job on the Jeeps and good looking MP's re-enactor shot. I've spent some time in an MP GPW riding shotgun for a convoy to a parade, blocking side streets for the slower vehicles and then racing ahead. Being an MP can be a great power trip..... :? and alot of fun.

Again, nice job.

Great job on the MP Jeep. I am currently working on an Willys Ambulance conversion for the medics I made a few years ago. I made an MP at the same time and I think he would look perfect next to your jeep. :D

Mk Nice MP mate, very nice,i`m currently doing a pair of Mototcycle MPs myself, moreso as i got 2 Tanker figures to convert from digger for that :D

I`m adding Hip articulation so they sit on the bikes :D

Though the BIG question is,does MK send his MP to the Jeep or the jeep goto the MP??? HAHAHAHAHA

Must admit I do fancy the idea of doing some "Snow Drop" MPs too, though need to get some Patton ETO dress uniforms for those.

LOL, I don't think my MP has a passport to go to Belgium. Not to further hijack his thread, but I found my other MP I was working on. Its based off of the 12" GI Joe figure and Harley that came out a few years ago.

Hi guys,

thanks a lot for all your comments :D

MK, your MPs looks great and I can have a passport for them
I think they are searching for a good old Jeep to patrol !

Ja, I hope you will show us your MPs on bike. That would be a nice addition to any collection and I was thinkingto do one for mine.

Yes Digger, both are part of my humble collection

TTT, customization seem to be a natural way due to the very few vehicles coming out. And as a re-enactor, the two biggest convoy I had to organise was in 1994 for the 50th anniversary of Normandy landing (640 vehicles) and the same year for the 50th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge (517 vehicles). Here in Belgium, we had to pass some exams with police forces because we MPs were more than just actors. I was responsible for the MP unit and it was a lot of responsabilities. Hopefuly, we never had any accident even with such amount of vehicles. Someone had to do the job and I did it. It was great moments.

Take care.

Phil,
I will most certainly be posting the MPs & Bikes mate :D
Just need to finish off the articulation I`m adding :D

As for the Re-enactment MP,WOW sounds like a LOT of fun & ALAS I`ve never had the good fortune to see a convoy of WWII Armour/Armoured vehicles/Support vehicles so envious as hell on that.
One of the things in the UK you tend not to see that often Well not in the North of the country anyway.

Need to get myself over to Europe for a look see methinks :D

With that any chance you have Photos of your past convoys?

Sounds like a LOT of responsiblity mate & moreso A LOT of fun :D
I was always a Medieval/16th century re-enactor so missed out on all of the WWII stuff.........LOL

Hello Ja,

here is a link to the few pictures I have :

http://community.webshots.com/album/290734892RYNILT

I had no time to take pics because of the job but I know I have been seen many times on TV during this period and also pictured many many times by a lot of people :D

Because we MPs were at crossroads and so on, we were easyer to be filmed and interviewed. Also, as we were doing a "show" with gesture and so on, we were realy appreciated by people, even by those waiting in their car to cross roads. We were a kind of Public Relations

I have so many souvenirs of these great times. A lot of stories also and the chance of meeting many veterants. I am still in contact with some of them.

Take care.

Thank`s very much Phil :D

Appreciate the link mate :D

As for no time to snap photos i can understand that & yep a great way to meet the public too :D

As for Re-enactment stories & Vets stories, hey maybe we could have a section on the board for that??? :D

Oh & I`ve fixed the articulation problem with my Motorcycle MPs,so just need painting up & then I`ll be posting, between today & the weekend :D

I`ll snap some shots of HOW TO with adding Articulation to the 21st tanker figures I used :D
