Weathered GI

Post by trigger1 » Fri Jul 27, 2007 2:45 pm

Hey guys.Just hoping to get some feedback here.I decided to do a little custom work on a 1:18 BBI fig. I did several washes over the original hair to darken it up,and used a #2 brush to try to get the look of the beard correct. I used to paint a lot of 1:32 figures and just started getting into 1:18.I am finding that painting this scale requires far more attention to detail. Please let me know what you think.I am open to negative feedback if you have any.

Looks good. This is great way of getting a couple of different looks out of one headsculpt. BBi's headsculpts are my fav's and can be swaped with the new xd d-day figs pretty well.

That BBI head looks so much better with a beard 8) The headsculpt of the BBI Ranger is one of my least favorites among the BBI WWII figs, yet perhaps the most common head among my collection on account of the Ranger being readilly avaliable at my local TRUs. Looks like its time to bust out the paintbrush and paint!

Agreed.I thought the beard would help take away that dopey smirk they gave this fig.I also tried a light wash on his left hand which you can see in the bottom pic.

I like what you did with the figure though I do have one comment. It looks like a nicely trimmed beard. If he hadn't had access to a shave, it would cover more of his checks and extend down his neck to around his Adam's Apple. Give him more of that rugged mountain man look. ;^)
