Small Scale Military Headquarters

I sold my custom 1/18 F/A-18A Hornet in the black/gold NASA scheme on ebay in the spring. One of the bidders contacted me about doing a custom job for him. Took me a while to research the markings as he wanted the Bush Avenger he was shot down in while with VT-51 squadron - the Barbara III plane, not Barbara II. Here's the result. I filled in every screw hole, blended every seam, reconstructed the pivot points on the rudder with metal, scratchbuilt a new wing antenna, created stencils, and hand painted the yellow Barbara III logo and weathered every nook and cranny of it. Of course it has wing sag. Thanks 21st Century Toys for that one. Next project is a P-40

WHAT A BEAUTY! That was supposed to be the next 21C Avenger scheme way back in the day! We even had custom packaging all designed and approved by Pres. Bush Sr.! Nice job!

Thanks you for the "props" gentlemen. I have to also thank Tamiya for making the best spray paint in the world and their weathering kits. Sure made this easier than some I've done before....

I got similar paints in the acrylic jars just now. Can't wait to try them!

Black Lion does some great work. I have drooled over a couple of his creations. Barb III was one I had hoped to tackle myself as I do have an extra Avenger sitting in a box... Some day I guess.
