Thanks for sharing that. When I saw the photos of the hydraulic lines inside the landing gear bays, my jaw dropped...!

There is nothing wrong with super detailing , but I tell you.

I am of the school if you can't see it , why do it ?

Some of these guys will spend years working on something that will never be seen.

When asked why they say " because I know it is there "

But detailing is detailing and it looks to be a fine job. :D

The ONLY time, in my opinion, super detailing like that is worth it, is when you take detailed pics so every one knows what is there too. Even though you'll never see it in the completed model, all the little detailed parts like the cockpit, wheel wells, ect, are like little models on there own. Know what I'm saying? But it is also loads more fun to watch others do it! LOOOL

That's pretty much how I look at it :)

Right now I'm working on an old Monogram 1/48 B-17G. I'm having a blast
getting that nose section "just right" with all sorts of touches that, when the
kit's all finished, I'll have to squint through the nose glass just to TRY and
get a look at

Stunning work on that P-51. The modelers on that site are amazing. As far as why someone would go to those lengths to add super detailing to a model I think they just want to test the limits of their modeling ability. Just like any other hobby someone invests a great portion of their time into, I believe they want to push the envelope as far as their abilities can. Personally, I find their efforts inspiring and I applaud them. I simply do not have the free time or ability to recreate their efforts. Many modelers on the Large Scale Planes forums are so talented they scratch build entire planes with the same or even greater level of detail than the P-51 shown.
