Looking for some help with a BBI HellCat

Post by USCGMK2 » Fri Sep 21, 2012 9:28 pm

I got a used BBI HellCat for cheap and it has a couple of problems. 1st it has toothpicks glued to the main flaps, 1 on each side. Is there anyway to remove plastic glue without damaging paint? 2nd one of the clips for the prop hub broke off so it just hangs there, don't want to glue the whole thing in place. Any solutions?

It depends on the glue used.

The best was is to get a SHARP x-acto blade one with the rounded scalpel blade and see if you can slice off the tooth pick a little at a time to get down to the glue.

Then either leave the glue there or maybe try to slice the glue as well.

A glue smear will look better than with a tooth pic.

I am not sure what you are talking about the prop area.

But if you can get another toothpick :D and touch it in some super glue , you can hopefully re-attach the dangling part.

I didn't know BBI made a Hellcat. I have the BBI Wildcat. What scale is it?

Here's an idea...
Find a plastic dowel or metal tubing that will fit into the existing hole on the engine.
Then remove the other clip from the propeller and glue on new dowel.

Thanks for the help everyone. I'll try to get a dowel and make it work.
PickelHaube, there are 2 plastic clips on the prop hub that clip into the hole on the engine. 1 snapped off during shipping, I think the only other thing would be is to find a whole hub and blade assembly off of another parts HellCat orCorsair.
