Small Scale Military Headquarters

Has anyone tried or had success in converting a 1/18 U.S. Halftrack into an ambulance? Would the anti-aircraft version be a possible candidate for such a conversion?

I Googled halftrack ambulances of WWII. I was unaware they were used for that purpose. I am a 1/32 collector. Any suggestions as to how to make or what to use as the canvas top?

The paper cloth that is used in disinfectant wipes and hand wet wipes was what I was going to test. Opened a hand wipe a while back only to find that it had dried up. The dried up cloth was tough and had a nice texture that might do well painted. I'm going to sacrifice a Lysol wipe and let it dry out to see if it is any better.
