Need some help with RLM colors...

Post by flyboy_fx » Tue Apr 10, 2012 7:58 am

Wow, I'm stumped!

Not sure what RLM colors to use for these examples...

The aircraft scheme is from 1942, so I doubt that RLM 75/82 was being used. Could it be RLM 70/75?
I like the artists picture, I would like to paint it that way. I do wonder if the plane in the real pic is RLM74/75. What are your thoughts?

Looks like the 2 toned gray.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

Looks like the 74/75/76 scheme but the grey is too light. Probably just the drawing not the real picture.

Sounds good guys! I'll do a tutorial on this scheme. From what I found, I can do RLM 74/75/76 with RLM 02/70/75 mottling.

where was this plane located? Not Russia or the Med. It has no fuselage bands or markings under the wing tips. So i gather France or Germany for home defence or intrusion raids over britain.

74/75/76 was a standard in '42 but there seems to be 3 colours on the upper left wing...notice the darker splotch on the inside of the aileron...there appear to be 3 colours in total on the aileron. Could just be touch up done after maintainance and i would speculate a dark grey colour. Can't tell if it extends over to the top of the flap or not, but i would guess it does.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Thanks for the help! I know most of the stuff in the second link, but thanks for the first one! I cam across the first link in searches a while back, but could never find it again!

@Aferg, it is located in France. There also seems to be debate weather or not it wore the JG2 emblem. Considering there are no pics of it with it.
