Sd.Kfz 251/17 Schwebelafette
Almost finished working on the gun and mount for my sdkfz 251/17 with Schwebelafette.
Introduced in 1944 in an attempt to combat increasing enemy air attacks.
They replaced the version with the drop down sides which were costly to produce. The schwebelafette, "floating mount" could be fitted to standard Sdkfz 251 hulls and came with a flak 38 barrel or shorter kwk 38 and were effective against air and ground targets.
I just need to add the loaders seat and 2 gunsights and the gun will be finshed, then I need to do the interior. Here's what I've done so far.

To Smitty, or anyone else...
Where the hell do you guys get that tiny brass hardware?
Help me out on this because I'd really like to use that stuff for my own projects but I haven't a clue where to begin buying, or if there's even sizes of this stuff like regular hardware that you can keep handy for what you might need.
i've just scarfed little bits off tech decks till now.

I buy small scale hardware from Scale Hardware
http://www.scalehardware.com/
and
http://modelmotorcars.com/store/store_h ... hrdwrindex
I buy tiny hinges and 6" piano hinges from Phoenix models in the UK, then you just cut them to desired length.
http://www.phoenixmodeldevelopments.com ... Range.html
a few more
http://shop.modellbau-kaufhaus.de/modules.php
http://www.knupfershop.de/
I usually buy several bags of various sized hardware so I have different sizes on hand. You can also try hobby shops in your area, any that deal in trains, model boats etc.

Thank you smitty, that helped a ton... A lot better, at times, than trying to glue stuff IMO. I appreciate that a lot.

Wow! Just started browsing through the Customs and Mods Forum this week. You do some great work. I have been quite inspired now to take on some "fixes" as well as mods and customs. Thanks for sharing your projects!
