Well, you make amazing work with false snow. I prefer real snow, some days it is really cheap here in Switzerland. But some times, snowflakes are too big for 1:18, making it strangely less realistic than false snow :( I show again what I've tried to make in my garden (a next step would be making skis for my UH-60):

I glued down sticks and waded up paper and bark down to the board, then rolled out white clay and covered it, then sprayed it with santa snow and added the trees

Hi guys,
We have had an extreme cold and dry winter here in Switzerland, so I could'nt make a new outdoor diorama until now: no snow in my garden... But I'm still on with preparing something. What you'll see on the pic is how to make ski poles. Skis and accessories have (only?) been made from the GI Joe brand. Unfortunately, the poles are not long anough to fit properly on 1/18 figures. So, I've made a custom with very simple materials: snapping buttons (don't know the english name) for the roundels, elastic thread, steel wire, insulating sheath from an electric thread to make the handle. You see the original GI Joe pole at the top, it is black, soft plastic:
Image
The figure is the GI Joe Snow Job (with an other head sculpt), the SIG-550 is from marauderinc.com, back pack from Powerteam Elite. There are 2 different lenghts for the skis, the most recent is far too long, the one appearing right on the pic has been shortened. The older version (rebuilt from kokomotoys.com Indiana) is too small, but as it it possible to buy a lot, I've choosed this brand).
I hope to have given some ideas and would be glad to get some from you guys (particularly for a better alpine or winter back pack, if possible cheap as I have now 6 soldiers ready for a campaign).

granch, that looks like some pretty nice work, hope you get some snow to show them off.

I thought if we'd get some snow I would take some 1/6 stuff out back for some pictures, but doesn't look like its going to happen this year.

Thank you ram04. We will perheaps have to wait for the next winter for snow (I have no time to go into the mountains that are pretty fresh white covered since last night). I would appreciate some 1/6 diorama. If I would have some 1/6 figures, I would have made some pics in a tree nursery, to have small firs in the background, a nice Christmas picture in my dream. But for 1/18, even baby trees are too tall, and the people who care and sell bonsai don't want to put a lot together to make the forest I would need just for a while (or I would have to sell the half of my BBI army to get 1 or 2 trees).
