Booya 2! MARINE 42

Post by Kroll777 » Tue Nov 22, 2011 10:57 pm

Pretty much done a few details to go. I'm bulding the two radar reflectors for the intake. In a few of the shots the jet was not weathered.

I did not know the Marines flew F16's. I knew they flew Harriers and F18's. Along those same lines I was unaware the Navy flew them. I thought they were strictly Air Force.

Thanks guys.
The Navy had 22 F-16N back in the late 80s that were used in adversary training at topgun, Oceana, and Key West. They did not have any hard points except a centerline one. They needed a 4th generation bandit to practice against. The f-16ns didn't last long about 2-3 years due to wing cracks. Adversary training is now out of Fallon NAS where the F-16 that were supposed to go to Pakistan were bought by the Navy. Several sport navy and marine markings.

Super-
That's a great job on that model! l.

One time speaking french on this site:
Pouvez-vous nous montrer une vue plus détaillée du pod à droite sous l'entrée d'air?
Pour le moins, voilà un camouflage original!
Sorry guys: I'm asking him to show us a closer view of what seems to be a recon pod on this original camo F-16.

Hi super

I actually thought about making the F-16XL. It would be pretty easy. I plan on selling most of my jets I just don't think it would be worth the investment and time. I have mocked up a jet with the conformal fuel tanks in 1:18. Looks cool. I'm not sure I will ever make that mod on one of my jets.

Was that digital paint job on that F-16 a real camo? I have not seen that. I'll tell you right now I'll never do a digital camo. It's just to much work. I personally do not like the look of the digital camos. Post a pic of the real jet. That being said you have done a great job on that jet. As far as the digital camos go that one looks the best.

I dont plan on ever doing the same camo twice. This Marine 42 was a real pain to tape up. Never again.

Thanks for sharing the digital camo pics. What scale is your model?

hey Kroll !

You did a really nice job on your customs i am jealous ! theses pictures were found on the web (surfing in my sofa  )

i really like your Xtrem custom since the 2 seaters often looks better ( particulary for the F18D !)

I understand that a XL F-16 would be too much work !

Keep us informed and make us dream

GOOD SHOW !

Philippe

Haha,
We were posting at the same time.

It's a very cool camo. I've got one more F-16 to paint. I'm not sure if I will do another D model f-16. The sufa would be cool. I personally like to paint only real jets that once existed. I've been leaning towards a T-bird or another aggressor, lizard test scheme. Shoot me ideas of real paint jobs.

Heres some the F-16s I'm thinking of. Which one do you like? Leaning towards a T-Bird maybe the two seat.

I prefer the 3 colours camo, grey or blue "ghost" tones, not too much contrasted, but the white-green-black one is top, same for the BBI agressor sheme...
