Winter famo with 8.8.

Post by Crazy Kraut » Sat Nov 07, 2009 3:39 pm

It is not finished yet and maybe it is not 100% scale. But the crew, the flak and the famo are the new beauties in my collection. Hope you like it

Looks more like a SDKFZ 7. Much more accurate to see a SDKFZ 7 towing a 88 than a Famo. Great job ! ! !

agreed it's more the size of a sdkfz 7 than a big famo. Looks awesome. I gather you did a general blasto like conversion of an Indy truck and a 21c 251? I may be doing that myself one day since i don't think we'll ever get a real sdkfz 7 in 1/18.

Of course it is a SDKFZ 7.
My failure!!
It is made like Blastos Sdkfz7 (out of indy truck and 21st. halftrack
Pics of the PZ IV (my Winter edition) come soon.
Tracks are not mounted because dirt and mud has to be add first on the most of my vehicles and tanks.

Here is the Pz IV.
My next project is a SDKFZ 7 combined with Pickelhaubes Vierling-Flak and I need to give exether_megas Wirbelwind a Winter touch.
Between I had to do some work at my diorama-landscape (muddy winter road)
Much to do and nearly no time for it :(
Need to win in the lottery
The other 8.8. is for a customer
Hope you like it.

Yes, I try to built a diorama with two connected plates in rectangular form. Each plate with approx. 3m lenght and 0,6m breadth. And it starts with a field hangar showing a Winter-Me109 (of course Winter :D ) in service and beside the hangar a muddy road full of vehicles and tanks should show the way to last warwinter end. Above some planes should fly (some in Winter- some in original scheme).
Yeah, this is the plan. For now the field hangar, the Me109 (BBI) and the service- Flak- and pilots crew are ready.
And some vehicles and tanks are nearly done. But the landscape gives me really bad bad headache.
At the moment I try to built rocks out of a fishtank-backwall.
Photos soon!!!
Regards
Sven

if you don't mind it being a bit oversized, here is a nice winter ju-88 you could add:

http://www.flyingstyrokit.cz/ju88en.htm

it's about 1/15.5 scale.

I´ve got the Winter-Ju88 and a super scale B25 from the same manufactor in storage. But I´m a little bit feared about building it. This Styrophor material is completely new for me.

Styro is not too bad ;) just dont use anything you normally use on tanks.  like supper glue (duh) and most paints.

I use hot glue (low temp) and prim the stuff with a enamel latex paint.

But thats for foam board.

the styro is not too bad but test any paint, dullcotes etc you might plan to use as many can eat foam. I use white glue for the most part, and sometimes 5 minute epoxy.

The worst part of the kits will be cutting out the vacuform canopy framing. I didn't get the ju 88 as i felt it was too big, but i think it would be a bear to cut out the framing on it.

The b-25 is sweet.....i'm going to make it into an early war strafer (sorta..at least as best i can)

If I get all the others done , maybe I´ll try the styros (if I could not sell them before).
Thanks for all the infos!!!!

I'm glad my posting of the mini Famo has inspired someone to make one too ;) I need to get off my keaster make the next one. The next mini Famo will be the /7 version with a flat bed and one of PH's quads on it. I will be posting a build log when I get to it. Been playin' with the dio table lately and not building vehicles like I should

It is completely painted. Originally it is in dark DAK yellow.
