My latest F-14B tomcat repaint. VF-143 Punkin' Dogs. After doing a VF-2 bounty hunters for another board member I decided that I had to have a proper low vis scheme for myself. After much back and fourth I finally settled on the Dogs as the squadron of choice. It's all paint with the exception of some decals on the nose section for the warnings and other bits that are too small and detailed for the vinyl paint masks. The engine nozzles are Skyworks, I love these additions. I did add a little more of my own work on the painting of these as I had a particular look in mind.

For this plane I used the Tamyia primer as my base coat. I masked off lots of random areas all over the aircraft. I then sprayed Dark Ghost grey from Tamyia, lifted the masked areas and lightly knocked back those lighter primer areas with a mist of the dark ghost grey so as to reduce the contrast. Additional hand work and other techniques were used to weather the plane into a nice aged look.

I wanted the lighter colored walkways on this plane so I used tamyia champaign gold and mixed in a light sand color to flatten out some of the metallic nature. It was then also weathered. The marker reflector lights were fun on this plane. I painted a mixture of flat white and light sand and yellow to get that creamy yellow color just right. I then applied 3 layers of glow paint that appears mostly clear but in low light or night will glow a nice blue green color. It's a nice little trick that is completely lost in these pictures and most difficult to capture on film in the dark. So I just enjoy the novelty of it myself when the plane is set up. Still a few things I want or need to still do...

My remove before flight tags and new weapons package are in the mail as we speak and will be the next additions. More pics later- for now take a look and let me know what you guys think.

That is one awesome looking "low vis" Tomcat, Zach. 8)

The accented panel lines, and the weathering are very well done. They really add to the model.

The best looking F-14 that I have seen,IMO. :D

It's a old spot cat... So it's the old original gear. I LOVE the looks of the Skyworks but I insist on the gear being able to retract so I have to pass on them sadly. If Skyworks someday makes them retractable then I'm all over it. For now I am very careful and rarely ever put them on the gear. Normally they sit on the fuel tanks in the gear up position.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I just received the remove before flight set from Pizzaguy and WOW! I was super impressed with the quality of these pieces. A real value for the work that he puts into them- REALLY!

I am awaiting the arrival of the Black Knights plane and as soon as I get it I plan to swap the weapons pack, add the RBF stuff, make some final touches to some of the details of this bird and then reshoot the plane again.

These all look amazing. I especially like the Russian P-40. Its too bad they (21st) never did a Russian Paint scheme or aircraft.

Thanks! My hardwood floor is a Teak 4" plank, with milled scrape finish. It's official name from lumber liquidators is "Tobacco Road". It's a very hard wood, which means it will not easily dent or ding. the installation is pretty simple. all you need to do is.... Oh wait- wrong custom forum! Sorry. ;)

The F-14 Tomcat is a Naval aircraft that was in service.....
