Hard to believe this thread is almost 2 years old. I had to go back and look and all these wonderful customs. Can't wait to see the Avenger

TBF-Avenger. Found this scheme a couple years ago. It's an Avenger from New Zealand. This plane should have the turret removed to be accurate but I like the turret too much and I'm not one for scratch building the cover that would have replaced it so I just went for it regardless of this detail. I really was drawn to the idea of a natural metal Avenger and the yellow and Black stripe pattern was too fun to pass on. This plane sat on my garage project shelf for close to 2 years. It's good to see her finally done and in the collection. Here are some pics.

It's certainly different. I'm glad its done so that I can move on with my life! ;)

I took pics of the Me-109e last night and I will post those up sometime later today or this evening. It's got an electric motor that drives the prop and working nav lights on the wing tips.

TKO, your work is off the charts! That Avenger is beautiful, I mean that is the way that plane was meant to look!
What a talent!

My Me-109e. This plane was modified back in 2004 when I took my S1 plane and cut open the cowling and split apart the wings to install some wiring from the local radio shack. I got the motor to spin the prop and included working nav lights for the wingtips. Once I knew it all worked I simply put the plane back together and shelved it.

A couple months ago I bought a new S1 in a package off of evil bay and decided to repaint my electronic version in this scheme. I loved this on the 1:32 scale from 21C and never made it myself because for years 21C told me that this would have been the next repaint release and it nearly was back in 2008. So with 21C gone (sadly) I decided to paint it myself.

Great job on both models Z! I really like the working model and I plan on modifying some of my 1/32 planes in the future.

Great work as always. Extremely well done!

Kudo's on the avenger - Very different & nice. As for the Golden Hawks F-86 - it's a must have, and one I need to do.

Well done!

Very nice. What kind of electric motor did you use? Did you use resistors to slow it down any? Great work!

I can't for the life of me remember what motor or what I did on that thing. I had help from a friend who knew more about Radio shack than I did. We chopped it up and slapped it together in like 2 nights. I remember thinking that if it didn't work I just lost my 39.99 dollar investment! (funny to think about now)...

I can tell you that we did not do any resister on the motor at all. We were just testing it out and pressure fit the motor right into the back of the prop spinner and I remember it just fit perfect. So we fired it up! The friction of the spinner itself seems to take the place of the resister. It spins fast for sure but it's pretty realistic looking at the speed it spins. so we left it! It runs off a 9V.
