I've been away from the board for a while and just noticed this contest. Can somebody sum up the rules and contest for me. I might have some stuff to enter in 1/35 and 1/18 if they meet the criteria. Please let me know. Thanks, Bill

Per discussion with our sponser (Lightning) and based on our turnout being less than desirable in Cat 1, we are hereby amending things a little.
From here on out, Cat 1 and Cat 2 will be merged into one Category for all scales 1/35 and smaller. Anyone planning to compete in 1/144, 1/72, 1/48, 1/50, 1/32 or 1/35 ( or any scale smaller than 1/35) may now do so under the one heading. So we now have only two categories.
Category 1/2 = All scales smaller than 1/35
Category 3 = Scale 1/16 - 1/18

However, with this new system, Lightning has generously agreed to provide now both a First and Second Prize for each Category, plus one Grand Prize. Disclosure of the nature of the prizes will be up to him, at a later time, but I expect they will be worth having!

So the bad news is we only get two categories, but the good news is that everyone still gets to enter in whatever scale they choose, and we have in total one more prize than before.

Any questions?

A thought

Just a thought...

I read something about that there will only be two photos allowed for your entries in the contest. I feel this could be hinderance, especially in the larger category.

Some of the 1/18 stuff is big, depending on what people use and people create. I know from shooting my own collection it can be very difficult to get acceptable presentations of a piece just by its size. Some of these dioramas could be very large.

I don't think people should be allowed to post 50 photos as that would be too much but perhaps maybe allow up to 5 photos. This will at least allow pictures from different angles and I feel would be a little more fair in the judging process so that the judges can see the whole diorama or a person can take pictures of certain details of thier diorama they feel very interesting.

Just a thought but might be a good idea, especially for the larger scale dioramas.

I agree! Thanks lightning! Also I agree with corey eagle. We should be allowed to have a maximum of 10 photos. That way people will be able to cover every angle. Is there anyone here who does not own a digital camera?

Thanks Lighting!
If there is only a two photos to submit, then I would suggest that you pick the best two photos and have a URL link to the rest as a follow-up that way you are within the rules but provide additional photos of your diorama to be looked at. If we start to submit more than 2 on this thread it could become difficult to manage/read with so many posting.

okay this has got ot be my last question I hope: Do people have to actually make something here in terms of terrain or are you allowed to set some tanks and soldiers up in your backyard?

In that regard, I would guess it's entirely up to you. However you might want to read the judging criteria in the original rules to determine what you need to do to score well.
