Using a modern BBI infantryman as a guide, his head is about 13mm high. The MacFarlane figure would be about 20mm, or slightly bigger. Is this more helpful?
About the only practical use for these in a 1/18th "display" I can think of would be to stick a whole one at the front, to make the scene look a bit bigger front-to-back than it is, by 'forced persepctive'...
