Custom Tiger I

Post by Jnewboy » Sun Mar 27, 2011 7:11 pm

I redid a early version Tiger I from a few months back, I think it looks allot better.
I put it on eBay for the insanely low price of $185,
insane if you consider you need both 21st Century's and FOV's Tigers to even get started...

Love the Tiger, but my loving wife has prohibited me from spending anymore money this year on 1:18, but I would love to know how you managed to create the sagging tracks near the front?

I have a couple of extra FOv and 21st Tigers, and I have been considering, kit bashing, to make both early and late war Tigers. How difficult is it to change the wheels from one to the other? Or, do you just switch the 2 bottom hulls out?

Great Work, keep it up.

Its hard to say what is difficult and what is not as it is different for everyone, it takes a steady hand with the Dremel thats for sure. The FoV tigers wheels are pressed down into the belly, so they come out without cutting once the tiger is taken apart, remember the Fov tiger has Zimm all the way down its front and back so you cant simply switch bellys. The 21st tiger is made different, one must cut the sides off of the belly with a Dremel. It not a super difficult process but it does take time, and putting one back together is the hardest because there will be gaps and some structural problems you will have to address in order for it to sit perfect, not to high or not to low. You will play with it and get it eventually.... or you could just sell two of yours and buy mine :D :D :D

If your not planning to roll your tanks around you can loop fishing line up into the tread and tie it off on the roadwheels to pull down the tread and create the sag.

That is a good point with the thread, I like mine able to roll but to be honest I don't know why, I guess they seem more real although they do just sit on a mantel. Those Tiger tracks sag a little more than usual because the synthetic snow is heavy.

The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

yea these Tiger conversions are time consuming, I have one tiger I just use for scrap parts when needed. Let me know if anyone needs missing parts, I might be able to help.
