Your setup looks HUGE!
What did you use to make the streets with?

Are all the buildings and partial buildings handmade?

Thanks everyone, its fun to show off your work sometimes. To answer a few of the questions posted:

The streets in the contest diorama were made from 2 inch styrofoam that you would find in packing funiture or appliances. Most dumpsters behind furniture stores or electronic stores are good places to look....I am not above dumpster diving  This allowed me the depth for the crater in the street and a good base to piece together and paint. I spray painted the pase with a dark earth color and then used real dirt and rubble to cover the seams. Its far from perfect but was effective on this large of a scale set up.

All of the buildings were scratch made by me using several techniques with plaster or scrap wood and spray paint/Acrylics.

The Cobra Mountain....I normally would not have attempted a project this large but some crazy events in my life allowed it to happen. My new son needed a heart transplant over the summer but they had to do it in Denver since they didn't do transplants here in Utah at the time. So my wife had to move to Denver for 4 months while I stayed here and worked. Obviously I had some free time and put it to use.

Time: It took almost 3 months to complete working maybe 25 hours a week. All the hours were very productive.

Materials: I used the base of the MT. from styrofoam that my TV came packaged in and the top section from different packing styrofoam. It was made in 8 different sections that fit together. This was the only way I could transport it from the garage to my War Room. The front the styrofoam is covered with a thick layer of plaster 60 lbs of it!! I didn't have quite the patience to carve the mountain all by hand so I used model train rock molds to help me out and they workd fairly well. Painting consisted of spary paint and weathering.

THanks for the kind words....this board has been a great place of refuge for me during hard times.

Thanks

Impressive, most impressive 8)
Yep, there's nothing like a small division of tanks to help your soldiers out ;) I've done that myself :) Now I'm building a company of 500 soldiers to support those tanks and a camp to base them all in. Herr General

I just barely submitted it to Joecustoms under the playset category. I thought they might get a kick out of it. THe Cobra Mountain project from Diorama Dreams inspired me to build one.
