Finally Finished My FOV Tiger II
I have finally finished this old project of mine, because I just recently found the mudskirts. ^_^;;
I repainted my FOV Tiger 008, into SS-Hauptsturmfuhrer Mobius’s Tiger 204, one of the six Tiger IIs that were trapped in La Gleize, during the Ardennes Offensive.

Hey Googly super job. But you have touched on a gray area. These things were very expensive when they came out. They are very expensive now. This is a good job and more historicaly correct from the FOV issue. But have you incresed the price as a custom or have taken away? This has always been on my mind. These were made with the collector in mind thus the high price tag.
Anyway great job.

Honestly? I may have taken away from the value of this tank by repainting it.pickelhaube wrote:Hey Googly super job. But you have touched on a gray area. But I love customizing stuff, and every time I looked at my Tiger 008, I get an itch to repaint it. That's why I finally caved in and repainted the thing.
VERY VERY NICE!
Say GD, what is up with the front fenders, and where are the goofy large hinges?
(I bought some WECOHE front fenders thinking of doing the dremel dance on my KT)

The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

Hey Googly, It's funny that me and pickelhaube were talking about this same kind of custom on a FOV tiger a few days ago and we talked about what it would do to the End value of this Type of collectable being as Expensive as they are, BUT after seeing yours "which by the way is very impressive" I honestly believe that any die hard collector would not think twice about it and would jump on it Immediately with no reservation if it were to become available, So in my opinion what you have done is made a already Great Tank even Greater by bringing it more closer to Historicaly correct collectable, so congratulation's on a very nice "Customized" Collectable.

Yoxford: Thanks!! I cut off the front fenders because it was the first thing that bugged me about this model. So I replaced it with some spare 1/16 Tamiya King Tiger front fenders. Not a perfect fit, and I need to add braces in the bottom to make it sturdier, but it works. And the braces are not visible, unless you open the tank and flip the upper hull.
Thehun: Thanks for the compliments! The only reason I thought that this model would have lost value is because of the nature of how these tanks were marketed.
They were marketed as Individually-numbered, limited edition collectibles. That's why back then, people on Ebay wanted to get MIMB FOV tanks.
But I see your point. Many people love customized models, especially if they are historically accurate. Even I have salivated at some of the 1/18th custom pieces that you guys have produced in the past.
