shhhhhhh... top secret

I remember a LONG time ago a Revell catalog showed craftsmen making moulds by hand from a clay model.

I'm sure today it's all CAD and laser etching, faster and more accurate.

Sorry I am afraid all those questions are a matter of 21st national security!

I only know a couple of those answers myself and I am legally bound to not disclose that type if intel.

Great questions though. Sorry I can't be more open.

I finally got on the forum. There are a few question that I would like answered on production of our beloved 1/18 scale XD.
1. Is Roy the one who makes the master models ?
2. If not who does? Chinese or US craftmen?
3. How long does it take to do the master?
4. What is the master made of?
5. Is there a guesstamate on the price of the master or is this a secret?
Thanks,
Matthew
If you would like the answers to these questions I would be happy to answer most of them. I do not want to take up 21st's thread time. So please ask them on the Admiral Toys section. And trust me, the way we do it is the exact same way as BBI, 21st, Corgi, on and on and on.....
I have a dinner meeting tonight and therefore will be away, but I promise to answer your question as soon as possible, if you request the answers.

By the way TKO, great job with your intel. I always appreciate what you have to say. That is why I am here reading your posts. :D I know it must be hard for you at times. Keep up the good work, how else will I know what 21st is doing.

Regards,
Jason

TKO, I have a couple or questions :D

1. Do you know when on-line retailers will receive the new P-38?

2. Will there be anymore photos/information soon about the 262's?
I really want to see the paint that will be on the NightFighter 262.
BTW, I love the yellow 7 paint on the 262.

3. I am in awe that 21stCT is making the Mig-21, do you know which version will they make? I really love the MF version, with the bigger strake going from cockpit to tail.

4. Will the Mig-21 have an opening gun port in the wing?

5. Will there ever be a Mig-19, or did 21stCT just skip it?

6. Is there any chance we will see the Panther or Panzer IV again anytime soon?

Thanks!

For Moth-

1. The Cal cutie P-38 should be out in the next couple weeks. (Late March). On-Line Retailers will get them all I think. (entire stock)

2. Yes, We should see the first paint masters on the 262 Night fighter by the end of the month.

3. 21C has become pretty crafty on the ability to easily modify the mold to create many versions. I would expect that the MiG-21 will be another example of this. A paint scheme on the MiG should come this month as well.

4. As far as features on the MiG-21? I don't know for sure.

5. 21st looks at LOTS of planes. They have all kinds of neat stuff. It's more a matter of timing and so on. Right now I have heard no such plans to produce a MiG-19 however, I am also not told every little detail of the big picture.

6. I would think that we would see a Panzer IV before we see more Panthers. I for one would welcome another Panzer!

Gotta run again! I have more new to put together for you guys!

TKO
A PZ IV repaint would be very welcome as long as it has been a little updated.
Also - everyone seems to be screaming for more playsets - at least a re-release of the farmhouse etc.

I think the first time around's problem was only selling them through TRU
Lower the price - dont think about packing extra figures unless it is a new figure and market them.
They sat at TRU in my area for over a year because of their price tag.

TKO, more new news is good. what da ya got??????
I do have a question about somthing I had seen at Area 21. During the 2007 Toy Fair Coverage, I saw pics of an XD 2 pack ( 2 carded figures on/in the same card or package)
They are called XD-OPPOSING Forces. Its the 12th pic under latest news "2007 Toy Fair Coverage begins"
Do you have any Intel on this subject?

The 2 pack of figures is something new that 21st is playing with. I think it is a great idea and could create additional interest in the figure line. Figures help sell tanks and other ground stuff so in my book this is all a good thing!

The fact that we saw concept packages is a GOOD sign of things to come.

TKO,

Does 21C use the same factory to do the pack-in figures with vehicles as they do for carded figures? I've noticed that the pack-ins generally seem to be not as nice as the carded ones (sloppy paint, loose joints, etc.). If they are separate factories, will the new legends series ground crew figures have quality more in line with the carded ones?

I know that the figures that come with the planes do come from the same factory that does the planes and that it is all part of the same build. That much I do know.

As for the pack in figs vs. carded? I am not sure. Good question though. I must say that the new African - American generic pilot figure that comes with the Red-Tail P-51D is really really good looking for a pack in fig! :D

Yeah, wish I could get that figure, but don't want another Mustang. And, considering it doesn't appear the carded pilots sold too well (judging by how many online places still have them), I don't think we'll see him separate :(

But, it would be nice to see the Tuskeegee pilot, Flight 19 Alien, and Vietnam Huey pilots carded (or even poly-bagged) one day

Yes the Tuskegee pilot is really nice. The face detail is as good as it gets in my opinion. :D

TKO,
Any chance the new BBD Mustang is going to WM or will it be online only?

Maybe TKO is secretly pluging a Pilots Series 2 figs. Maybe there is a ground crew series as well.

My understanding at this point is that we will see the King Tiger in 2007! Development on this project has been going on for quite a while. Seeing paint masters area good indicator as well.

GREAT question on BBD Mustang. I will have to see what I can find out for you on that front.

Carded pilots just don't seem to move as well. I am not really why. I think 21c is going to stick with the pilot plane combo for now.

TKO,
Do you know what happened to the new P-38?
Any news on the 262's?
Also, are there any plans to re-release the Spitfire, Panther, Panzer IV, Cobra, Huey or Pak-40 in camo?
