For P-51 fans. What plane is it?

This is the place to put those reference links, posts on books, movies, photos, and etc.

The caption on yesterdays ESPN College Basketball page had the following photo with the caption of: NCAA Basketball All-American.

That could be any number of P-51s. Looks unpainted as a whole in the shot, so a silver P-51. Has nose art and the paint strip to block the sun reflection above the engine.

I think the more important question is: Of the audience targeted by this poster, how many of them are going to recognize that the aircraft is a P-51D (and the greatest US fighterplane of WWII) at all?

Sort of reminds me of an old CSU Fresno (Fresno State) Bulldogs football team poster I found once that had a couple of the star players from 1986 standing next to a then-locally-based California ANG F-4 Phantom 8)
