I'd make sure my grandson wasn't around when I was doing that. Being an idiot on your own is one thing. Jeopardizing a kid is something else.

Why didn't the explosive expert make the shell inert? And having the grandson there is a big no no.

Interesting that live explosive shells can still be found from the Civil War. Those are getting close to 150 years old :shock:

As for the drilling, it all sounds pretty stupid to me. You just don't do that when live powder is involved. Anyone who has ever drilled wood will tell you that it heats up (and can even burn) due to the friction, metal will also get pretty warm and having gun powder around... I feel sorry for both the victims, especially the grandson.
